TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires if they can use a 60-day extension to change the renewal date of their Non-O marriage yearly extension in Thailand. A commenter suggests that it's not possible to directly change the renewal date, but recommends letting the current extension expire and obtaining a new Non-O visa from a neighboring country, followed by applying for a 60-day family visit extension before applying for the one-year extension again.

Sadly, I believe you cannot.

BUT...

Let your current one year extension of stay expire.

Get a NEW Non O Visa as Married in a neighbor SE Asia Thai Embassy or Consulate which gives you a 90 day STAMP on arrival into Thailand...such as Vientiane or Savannakhet Laos

Then Apply for the 60 day family visit extension of stay at your local Thai Immigration office.

And when your Thai Immigration office allows, Apply for the one year extension of stay as Married.

Also I suggest you discuss this with your local Thai Immigration office for their thoughts.

if you never took the 60 day family extension you can do that and it'd move your expiration date 2 months, that's it

You need to move it further than that you exit, get off this current extension, come back apply for the Non-O visa, then 2 months later apply for a new extension.

That's the only way it can be done

I did use the 60 day on my 1st 90 day non-o for extra time before applying for my 1st extension

OR you can talk to the immigration officer and see if they can "short stamp you" for your next yearly extension <- NOT give you the full year. Sometimes if you have a compelling reason WHY you need that renewal date moved I have seen them give you like 10 months instead of a year, so that it moves your extension date 2 months earlier

I have seen this 2 times in going on 20 years, so it is NOT common or something they just do because you ask

then that means you want to move your renewal date you get OFF this one come back in and start over from scratch ๐Ÿ˜•

you can ONLY use the 60 day family visit extension of stay ONE TIME per entry into Thailand. So you have already used it during your current time in Thailand.

@James *******
I'm not sure if that is accurate. As I understand, it's only 1 X family extension allowed per VISA, no matter how many extensions of stay. So as he has already used it up during the original 90 day initial non O, he wouldn't have any family extensions available to use.

@Paul ********
totally correct, you can use the 60 day visit thai family extension once per visa/extension SO even if you've been on yearly extensions of stays for years IF during that time you ever used the 60 day visit family extension then you can't get it again.. (As long as the visa/extensions are daisy chained together you're one and done)

@Paul ********
that's a good question โ“

Let's Ask

James Miller I was in a position two years ago to use the FE 60 days. It was made clear that no further extensions for FE reason allowed under my current visa, irrespective of how many extensions of stay or trips out of Thailand and then back in.
