Retirement Visa question..

I already have my Non-O retirement visa. It is up for renewal late June 2024.

Is there a certain amount of days that I need to be in Thailand prior to renewal.

Still in US. Finalizing relocation.

Thanks to all.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user has a Non-O retirement visa that will need to be renewed in June 2024 and is currently in the US. Questions arise about how many days prior to the renewal they must be in Thailand. According to comments, there is no minimum time requirement; however, it is suggested to aim for at least 14 days before the expiration to avoid any potential issues that could lead to overstaying. Additionally, it is clarified that renewals are technically not performed, but rather, extensions are applied for, which represent a brand new application.

Is it true that I can extend my retirement visa 45 days before it ends?

There's no minimum time. You can do it on the day it expires, but wouldn't recommend it. If there's any problems and you have to go away to get additional documents etc you'll go onto overstay. Would suggest minimum 14 days beforehand.

Do you have a non-O or non-OA?

You cannot renew a visa.

You can apply for an extension. Every extension is a brand new application, not a renewal.

But what actual circumstance surround your extension will depend on the type of visa or extension you have which is what we need to know. A non-OA visa from the embassy or a non-O extension from an immigration office in Thailand?

..Non-O from BKK Immigration.

you can apply up until the last day on your extension. Though not advised because if you're missing any documents and need time to gather them, you'll miss your chance to apply for the extension.

, they will usually ask for the application for an extension about 1 month before the expiry of your current visa or visa extension but as everything else it depends on the Immigration office.
