TLDR : Answer Summary
The earliest date to renew your marriage visa in Thailand is typically after July 11th, as most immigration offices allow applications when you have less than 30 days left on your current visa. However, if you are at certain offices (like in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket, or Samut Prakan), you can apply as early as June 27th, provided you have 45 days or less left. The latest date to renew is on the expiration date, August 9th in this case.

Bring only what you need to spend to Thailand. Interest rates are low, investing is risky and restricted for foreigners and getting money back out problematic. Thailand is a marvelous place to spend money, a terrible place to make it

the latest day you can apply for another 1-year extension without any problem is the last day on your stamp. So this year, it would be 9 August (because of calendar)

And what immigration office out of the 80+ offices would you be using?
Most offices let you get an extension when you have less than 30 days left on your current stamp, SO any time after July 11th
Unless you're at an office that allows extensions when you have 45 days or less left on the stamp (Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket, Samut Prakan, etc) when you could apply any time after June 27th
correct the expiration date of the new extension will be the same
You can't "move" the expiration date by applying early

oh brilliant, i didn't realise, i thought they would just give another year from the date you renew, not from the actual expiry date. Many thanks again.
