TLDR : Answer Summary
A friend with a 1-year Non-O visa obtained outside Thailand seeks to know if he can renew his visa inside the country before it expires. Responses suggest that rather than a renewal, he can apply for a 1-year extension of stay based on marriage to a Thai citizen, provided he meets the necessary requirements. It's recommended he consult his local immigration office for specific requirements as these can vary by location.

He may need to take the 60 days for visit Thai family extension first if he doesn't have the seasoned funds

There's no such thing as renewing a visa.

He can apply for the 1 year extension of stay based on marriage to a Thai if he meets all the requirements.

He will want to go to his local immigration office and ask them for their list of requirements as each office is different.
