What Should Expats Know About Obtaining a Multiple Re-Entry Permit in Chiang Mai?

Info only - visited Chiang Mai immigration yesterday for a multiple re-entry permit. Downloaded a form and completed, had all the relevant copies needed. After waiting for a ticket was told you have to complete their form not online one. Completed their form, exactly the same information. They checked the paperwork, all good and issued a ticket. After waiting 2 hours had to leave for another appointment, still about 1 hour to wait.

Visited again this morning, after waiting 2 hours was issued a ticket, same paperwork as yesterday. Waited another hour for my turn. Happy to beat the 12 o'clock lunch break by 5 minutes. They took my photo and 3,800 baht after I had signed each page, was then advised they wouldn't issue the permit because I live in Tak province not Chiang Mai. Was given my money back and told to go to Tak immigration in Mae Sot.

Hope this doesn't happen to anyone else.

They gave me the same excuse at CNX immigration. I told them I wanted to see the superintendent then suddenly it was possible. I had to wait 3 hours for my multiple entry permit

I agree.

Chang Mai Immigration

Work different to other offices

It is possible that you were not living in Chiang Mai for reentry

But

You would think

Help people out

After all

We actually pay all there wages

With our money

It's a pity the higher up

Dont realise it

yes, the staff are very nice but the rules are difficult to comprehend.

Try buying the reentry permit at the Chiang Mai Airport...if you are still in CM...no guarantee they will sell it though....as you are not flying out.
