Good morning all. I have just been to Nonthaburi Immigration to make a re-entry permit. An interesting morning.
First let me advise anyone going there that there are road works from both sides leading to the immigration office. The road is completely closed off from the Temple side, which is the safer route, and is down to one lane (partially) on the less safer windy road route. Entering immigration is now on a dirt road that they have made.
Anyway, I got there at 9 and waited for my number to be called. I had all documents in order. When I was called it was the same officer who does the 90-Day reporting and he's usually grumbling and muttering things as he goes through your documents. He stopped on the passport page where I was stamped in last year when I came back from holidays and said why did I not have a copy of it. I said the website didn't advise I needed it and he said "I... I am officer immigration and I need it". So, I went off to photocopy it which took about 2 minutes. I came back and was met by a much better mood. He waved me over and while he didn't say sorry he said "Your documents are perfect already, it's so busy today, so many people". Turns out he thought the stamp from last year was my visa and while I was gone he realised I had given him a copy of my visa already. Thereafter he was all smiles, telling me I spoke Thai well and where was I travelling to and what countries were near it etc.
The whole thing took about an hour and a half so not too bad I guess.
