Information Only, after reading about Re-entry Permits in Bangkok I decided to go to Suvarnabhumi to buy mine before I leave next month.

I chose BKK because transportation is easier than the other offices for me.

I got all the way here to find out that you can ONLY get 1 the day you fly out. Unfortunately that was not mentioned on anyone of the 3 sites I read.

I guess I could have asked here but it seemed to trivial to bother when I thought I could read for myself.

Again FYI.

Got re-entry permit today at Chaengwattana. Very fast process as no one really applying now. Cost 3,800 for multiple RE Permit.

How is a re-entry permit gonna help when tourists are not allowed back in?

Actually you should be able to get re-entry permit on any stamp allowing you to stay in Thailand. Even 30 day visa exempt stamp.

I got one few years back when applying one year extension of stay while I was on "under consideration for 30 days".

Applied my extension based on marriage and while waiting the stamp did a trip overseas with re-entry permit and then went to get the extension stamp.

I vaguely remember getting re-entry permit years back when one year non-O multi entry to keep the last 90 days stay stamp after visa expiry alive with few days trip overseas for work.

From My readings, if I leave wothout getting 1 and they Do Open the Borders back up then my Non O based on Retirement is Null In Void.

If I get 1 before I leave then my visa is still Valid.

So I can spend 1,000tbh as insurance, so to speak, or Start everything from scratch.

I think it's worth it to buy 1.

Thanks for taking the trouble to let us know Dennis. I must admit I would've assumed a re-entry permit would be the same animal wherever purchased. At least you didn't waste too much time/money on the journey.

You're welcome Christopher, no complaints, it was a pleasant little Day Trip and got some good City pics.

Don Mueang is weird - the people get stamped out first and pass border control then buy re-entry permit. It's like you invalidate your visa or extension first then get re-entry.

Map of border control hall 2 at BKK airport. As you see the re-entry booth is before border control (people movement from left to right). There is also seats where people may wait while re-entry processed.

??? I get at least 4 multi reentry permits at BKK airport, the booth is right in front of border control. so you can't technically pass through it / stamped out before get re-entry permit.

To be honest, some time ago (3 years or so?) re-entry booth was located in the main hall before security. But this is still emergency booth and most people advised to get re-entry at immigration offices.

If you had Googled the location, you would have seen it's AFTER security....

I read 3 sites, as I stated. None said anything about not being able to access.

Why are so many people being Jerks when I'm just passing information that MIGHT be helpful to other New to this process.

Seems only the Admins are Civil.

just stating the facts, a simple search could have saved you a wasted journey.

It was always like this. You need to get boarding pass then proceed Exit 2 where is 24hrs re entry booth located.

It may have always been that way. The point is there's nothing on the websites giving you the little nugget of information.

So I'm just sharing so other Newbies don't waste their time.
