Hi. I am leaving Thailand in 2 weeks and need to purchase a re-entry permit. I have read others posts on requirements etc. Although I know I can purchase at the airport, I intend to go to BKK immigration office, I have never been there but hear it can be a rather horrendous experience!! Is there a specific desk/area there just for these permits and any advice on best time to arrive please? Many thanks.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring about obtaining a re-entry permit at the BKK immigration office before leaving Thailand. They seek advice on where to go within the office and the best time to arrive. Suggestions from commenters include going to desk C2, arriving after lunch, and even considering booking an appointment to avoid long waits. Some respondents recommend getting the permit at the airport for simplicity.

It's so, SO much easier at the airport...

At Chaengwattana, you will go to the main queueing desk first, they will check your paperwork and give you an appropriate queue with category (alphabet). You will be fine even don't know which desk.

Section C-2 sells re-entry permits at Chaengwattana BUT it's easy to get a re-entry permit at Don Mueang or Suvarnabhumi before you fly out too.

that was my initial plan, however, my flight is 1am and just concerned that if something went wrong I have wasted a second year of my O/A visa.
