What are the procedures for address reporting and 90-day reports for expats in Thailand?

Hello, I have some questions about address reporting. First of all I will describe my situation. I have been staying in Thailand (Bangkok) for about 13 months with a Thailand Elite Visa. I have done my 90-day reports and my extension of stay in Bangkok. I will have a new permanent address in Bangkok by the date of my next report, in fact I will be moving into a new apartment in the next few days. Now to my questions:

1. Since my permanent address is changing, I have to report this as far as I know. In the past the TM28 form was used for this, but as far as I know it is not used anymore or only in exceptional cases, because it actually had to be filed even if you left the province for only 24 hours. Most of the expat community did not even know this and the procedure was discontinued as far as I know. If I understood correctly, I have to submit a TM27 instead within some days, in addition to the TM30 that my landlord submits, is that correct?

2. How exactly do you file 90-day reports if you are not in the city where you are permanently registered at the time of the report? I would like to visit friends in Chiang Mai and would therefore not be in Bangkok at the time of my report. Can I make my report in Chiang Mai? If so, what documents do I need to submit? I assume I need the temporary address in Chiang Mai of my hotel (TM30) but what address do I put in TM47? I would want to avoid postal or online reporting if possible, because they are very prone to error or don’t work at all.

The bureaucracy is highly confusing and I hope someone can enlighten me a bit here.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user, holding a Thailand Elite Visa, seeks clarification on reporting a change of address and filing a 90-day report while traveling. Upon moving, they must submit a TM27 and ensure their landlord files a TM30 for the new address. If traveling to Chiang Mai during their report period, they can file the 90-day report there using the TM30 from their Chiang Mai accommodation and should register their temporary address with immigration. There are options for reporting online or by mail, but these may pose challenges.

All options has been given.

When you fill the report that you are 90 days in Thailand you also fill in an address. If you go in person it must be the address registered at the Immigration Office, if you use the on line method it could be a different address.

Good luck.

I did until recent (before it changed) the 90 days report by Internet, so in my idea it isn(t link to the place I live at.

You can do your 90 day report by mail as long as it is date stamped at the post office at least 15 days before your next 90 day report is due. So if that fits in with your travel plans, do it before you leave for Chiang Mai using your Bangkok address as your address on your TM47 and send it to the immigration office you use in Bangkok

You should be able to do your 90 day report in the office that coincides with your most recent TM30. So if you go to a hotel or a friend's home in Chiang Mai, get a copy of the TM30 they file for you and take that to immigration to do your 90 day report.

Normally I would say to do it online but the online system is finnicky and since you are about to move in Bangkok, it might not like that, but it's possible it could work still. Make sure you register for the new system ahead of time as some report it takes time to receive your login credentials and have your account setup.

Thanks for the tip. Can you tell me which address i would have to write on the TM47 then? I guess i still need it right?
Brandon ************
Is TM47 the 90-day report form? If you're doing it in person you would write whatever address you are using your TM30 as proof from. They would compare to make sure both line up.

If doing it online, I don't know how synced up they have the system. What it should be is what I said above, but if they don't have them synced up properly it could be your Bangkok address.

If you're just going to visit a friend, forget about TM30 and use your Bangkok address online. If you can't get online to work then you HAVE to get a TM30 to do your 90-day report in Chiang Mai.

If you're staying at a hotel they will always file a TM30 for you.

Yes, TM47 is the 90 days report form. Thank you for helping.

Doesn't the Thailand Elite office take care of your 90days report?
Ellie *******
then why not talk to them if your registered address is still in Bangkok?

Yes, but only in a few cities. I'm actually using the service in Bangkok because then i don't have to go to immigration myself.

You can do you 90-days report 14 days before to 7 days after the date stamped in your previous report, you know this right?

90 day reports can be done on line - within a small time frame.

Does it actually work now? Most people I know couldn't actually do it in the past.

@Manuel ******
Yes but you won't get the ok for about a week or so. Good luck working out where to find "Check Status"🤣

it's worth a try now with the new system. I'm on an Elite visa also and have never been able to successfully do 90 day reports online over the last two years. Recently (2 weeks ago) I registered in the new system and was able to complete the 90 day report online. I received an email confirmation after 6 hours that it had been completed.

Wow that's good to know. Thank you.

You can do 90 day reports at the Immigration Office where your address is registered.
Robert *******
I try again: If you reside at an address you need to be registered within 24 hours after arrival. This means if you visit your friend in Chang Mai and stay there you need to be registered in Chang Mai, but you might opt for not follow the law and forget this registration.

But then you have to make the 90 day report in person in Bangkok or on-line.

I understand. And in order to register there, I have to file the TM27 form?

@Robert ******
Means it's not possible to do it while I'm in Chiang Mai for a trip?
Robert *******
@Manuel ******
If your address is in Bangkok you can not confirm that in Chang Mai.

But you can register your address in Chang Mai (it is free) and then do the report there.

How do I register my address in Chiang Mai?
Robert *******
Yes, if you move to a new address your landlord or house owner makes a new address registration at Immigration and you get a copy of this.

It does not matter to where you move as every time your reside at an address the report has to be done within 24 hours.

Most Immigration Offices accept one registration done by landlord, house owner or possessor using the tm30 form or on line registration.
