What is the process for applying for the 60-day "Covid visa" in Thailand after extending a tourist visa exemption?

Hi,

I just extended my tourist visa exemption with an extra 30 days, I am a French citizen.

After, I would like to get the 60 day "Covid visa". I wonder if someone has already gone thru this process, especially regarding the reason on the affidavit you choose. How much of a tangible proof do you need to bring to the reason you select? For example, do I really have to contact my embassy and prove they were "unable to issue the letter of confirmation and request for a temporary stay"...? ๐Ÿค”

Is there a reason you guys selected that did not require any specific proof?

Thank you in advance for your help, ๐Ÿ™

TLDR : Answer Summary
A French citizen has recently extended their tourist visa exemption for an additional 30 days and is looking to apply for the 60-day "Covid visa". They seek advice on the affidavit requirements and what tangible proof might be needed during this process, particularly if contacting the embassy is necessary to demonstrate inability to obtain a confirmation letter for a temporary stay. Responses highlight the variability of requirements across different immigration offices in Thailand, detailing necessary documentation such as passport copies, TM30 filings, and embassy letters.

I'm closing comments.

1. The OP is using Koh Samui immigration office. Each immigration office has their own policy. A person can not "pick and choose" the immigration office to use; they can only use the immigration office where the TM30 is filed. Advice about Kanchanburi office will not apply to the OP.

2. To get a 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel to travel due to COVID requires the following paperwork:

1. Your passport and:

a. a copy of your data ("picture") page

b. a copy of your most recent visa (if you have one)

c. a copy of your most recent stamp

d. a copy of your departure card

2. [May not be requested for Bangkok immigration] A TM30, filed in the immigration office.

3. The forms (each immigration office may have different forms, and want to use their special forms). For BANGKOK IMMIGRATION ONLY, these forms can be found in the Files section of the group.

4. [NOT requested for Bangkok immigration, may be requested elsewhere] A letter from your embassy saying you can not return, OR a print out from your embassy website saying they donโ€™t issue the letters, OR a print out of a letter from the embassy saying they don't issue those letters.

5. 2x passport pictures

6. 1,900 THB.

Different immigration offices have different policies. *SOME* may require:

- The ID card of the property owner where you are staying

- Copies of *ALL* stamped pages in your passport

I can't see the point in leaving commenting open.

Where does the form on the left come from?

That's the affidavit. We have a copy of it in the "Files" section of the group.

Depends on the immigration office; some require it, some don't. Bangkok does NOT request these letters.

IF your immigration requires it, you will need ONE of the following three documents:

1. A letter from your embassy saying you can not return, OR;

2. A print out from your embassy website saying they donโ€™t issue the letters, OR;

3. A print out of a letter from the embassy saying they don't issue those letters.

(Note the "OR's")

Check your embassy website first to see if they have some type of notice about not issuing the letters. If they don't, then contact the embassy and ask them for more information.

@Benjamin *****
do you by any chance have the info for the Koh Samui immigration office? Do they request these letters?

My advice would be to ask on a local Facebook group. There's a lot of island related groups, and they would know. I just re-read your post, and you're a citizen of France (and I'm assuming entered on a France passport). The letter, or some text saying they don't issue the letter, should be found here.
