Hi good people!

We are a couple trying to apply for the 60-day covid visa extension in Kanchanaburi. They say we need a specific letter from the embassy, but our embassy cannot/will not make this letter. We did the same visa extension two months ago (in Pai) and they never asked for any letter. We were hoping someone could tell us if they changed the regulations or if it is just this office that are more strict? Because we are considering going to another immigration to apply... we are desperate to not leave Thailand already ๐Ÿ˜…

TLDR : Answer Summary
A couple is seeking guidance on the requirements for a 60-day Covid visa extension in Kanchanaburi, after being informed that they need a letter from their embassy, which is unavailable. They compare this new requirement with their previous extension experience in Pai. Comments suggest that regulations changed recently, possibly requiring proof of inability to return home, and provide advice on how to obtain necessary documentation from the embassy.

As
@Steve ******
says above, or email your embassy asking for the letter, then print off their reply saying they don't issue the covid letter, and tick the appropriate box on the form, my embassy doesn't issue a letter.

Yes the conditions changed at the last application date January 25. If you were on a non-immigrant visa prior to going onto your first covid extension, you can no longer extend. If you cannot apply for a new non-immigrant visa in-country, you must leave. If you are coming off a tourist visa/visa exempt you can apply, but it is at the discretion of the immigration office, and many are requesting a letter from your embassy stating it is not possible for you to return to your home country, and some are asking for proof of an outbound flight. Which visa were you on before covid extension?

@Sinika *******
they donโ€™t have to give you a Covid extension, itโ€™s up to them. They may give you a 7 day to leave Thailand stamp

Tourist visa.

Take a screen of your Embassy's web page stating they dont issue the letter. Apparently that's good enough for most Immigration Offices

Yeah. Something from your Embassy stating they dont issue the letter should be fine.

Thanks, there is no such statement though, but we will try to make them write a letter saying they cannot write the letter ๐Ÿ™ƒ
