I came in end of Jan with a 60 day tourist visa.

Can anyone advise what I will need to preferably get the 60 day covid extension? I have the option to go to Koh Samui or Surat Thani but heard that Koh Samui was being tricky... any recent experience?

Thank you!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about the requirements for obtaining a 60-day COVID extension for their tourist visa, mentioning they arrived at the end of January and are considering going to Koh Samui or Surat Thani. They express concern about possible difficulties in Koh Samui based on recent experiences. Comments provide guidance about asking at the local immigration office about the COVID extension and the necessity of the TM30 form for foreigners in Thailand.

May i ask does every single foreigner coming to Thailand has to fill this TM30 form?

I am right now in Bangkok in quarantine, came from Croatia on TR visa and intend to stay in girlfriends house in Bkk.

By Law, every single foreigner is supposed to be reported by their accommodation owners. (except foreigners who have permanent residency. etc)

ask your local immigration office for their policy.Bangkok require it, some others may not.

the owner of your girlfriend's house has to file your arrival under that address to immigration within 24 hours of your moving in. It is called TM30
Benjamin ******
In theory, all immigration offices should have the same policies. I think this question should be asked in one of the Facebook groups that is about these two regions.

You go to the immigration office where your TM30 is filed with...

You can ask for the 60 days COVID extension

But they may say you must first use the 30 days your visa entitled you to.

I went to jomtien immigration to extend my 60 DAY Tr visa, they said I had to extend for 30 days, then go back for the 60 day extension
James ********
@Mick ******
correct. Jomtien requires you to use the 30 day extension first. Not all offices allow one to get the COVID 60 day extension first.

I stayed here 45 days for visa exemption (tourist) and before to go to extend it I asked my landlord to help me with TM30. She sent me this

When I went to extend for one more month no one asked me for TM30 (just address where I’m staying now)

that’s link is about TM28, NOT TM30.

There are offices that don’t require you TM30 receipt when you apply for standard tourist 30days extension (Bangkok is one of them). But more offices require TM30 receipt for 60days covid extension.

TM30? I have not gotten any extensions yet, just my 60 day visa I came in with.

I think you’re trying to decide on which island to visit next, while also trying to request for a 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19.

I recommend asking on a local, Facebook group what those policies are.

@Annika *******
you or your landlord are required to file a TM30 within 24 hours of arriving at your new address in Thailand.

When you arrived your ASQ hotel filed the TM30 ...

When you left ASQ you were required to update your address by filing TM30.

If staying at hotel or with friends or in rental...a new TM30 still must be filed....within 24 hours of arrival.

If no TM30 on file...

Immigration may refuse extension until one is filed

And fine collected for not filing
