Apologies if this is duplicated as my first post did not appear to be uploaded on this forum

60 DAY EXTENSION OF VISA DUE TO COVID QUESTION IF APPLYING IN BANGKOK

I phoned immigration and explained that I am on business APEC (visa) and they advised I go to the new Thai Immigration office in Muang Thong Tani Centre. I believe they are setup for the 60 day extension due to covid in Bangkok.

Two questions and they relate to an informative post(s) from Benjamin Hayes :

1. Does anyone have experiences or information on how to get the following from their respective Embassy in Thailand, as I checked websites (UK and Hong Kong) and tried to phone today without success, for the following correspondence :

- letter from your embassy saying you cannot return, OR

- a print out from your embassy website saying they don’t issue the letters, OR

- a print out of a letter from the embassy saying they don't issue those letters.

2. When I phoned Thai Immigration recently, they advised given I have APEC business card ( visa) to go to Muang Thong Tani Centre. However I see from the attached that extension of stay based on business should go to Changwattana office. My thinking is to go to Muang Thong counter K, as I am extending given the 60 day covid condition.

Appreciate any advice and information on the above, as it may avoid travel to wrong office.

Thank you …..

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user inquires about obtaining a 60-day visa extension due to COVID-19 while on an APEC business visa in Bangkok. They asked about the necessity of a letter from their embassy confirming their inability to return home and clarification on the correct immigration office to visit. Responses highlighted that the Thai immigration office in Muang Thong Tani is equipped for the extension process, and that a letter is not required from the embassy. Several users provided insights on necessary documents and shared their own experiences with the application process, confirming that it can be completed on the same day.

Thought I would provide an update on the process etc, given I received my 60 day extension in what was a reasonably simple process.

Address of immigration office …

สำนักงานตรวจคนเข้าเมือง VISA EXTENSION

082 941 4389

*************************************

Go to level 3, counter K. They close for lunch 12-1pm.

YOU NEED paper copies of the following :

- Paper copy of passport of face / number page

- Paper copy of passport page with visa stamp

- Paper copy of departure card

- TM7 FORM (they have paper copies at office and instructions on how to complete)

- One passport size photo.

They did not request to see my rental agreement or proof of where I stay, albeit I had a paper copy to show.

There is a photocopy shop on ground floor - 10 baht per page.

PLUS NEED TO SHOW THE FOLLOWING ACTUAL DOCUMENTS

- Passport

- Departure card

- And in my case APEC card

There was seemingly 200 people on 15 September and today 16 September, I reckon 60 people at 1pm.

From arriving, completing TM7, processing the extension, to collecting the updated passport, took approx 75 mins.

They actually STAMPED MY PASSPORT WITH 60 DAY EXTENSION ON THE SAME DAY AT THIS OFFICE - no ‘under consideration’ for myself OR return to this office. My 60 day extension was from the date my current visa expires (8 October) not from today 16 September.

Take your APEC card, your passport and proof you stay in Bangkok to the Muang Thong Thani Immigration office and apply for a 60 day covid extension at Counter K

Do it before the 27th of Sept (the date the current covid extension program runs out) The officers out there know that brits don't get the embassy letter

@Tod ********
. Thanks Tod, that sounds reasonably simple.

In another post, there was reference to requiring paper copies of

- passport photo page

- visa stamp page

- visa

- departure card

PLUS

bring 2 passport photos

PLUS

A TM30 Form will be filled in by immigration.

Is that your understanding that these are required ?

Thank you

one passport photo on the TM7 application form is all they ask for at MTT, I'd go with that stuff and you should be fine.

. Do you know if this office extends for 60 days or just 30 days and then can to re-apply again for a further 30 days. Thanks

@Benjamin *****
. Thanks for the update Benjamin.

Thanks Benjamin

Just clarification, can you confirm if the following is correct ….

If my application straight forward, they cancel my current visa stamp (expires 8 October) on the day I visit and stamp my passport with another 60 days from the date of my visit to Muang Thang

OR

If my application is not straight forward (for whatever reason) or they need time to review my application, they MAY give me a paper document saying ‘under consideration’ and I have to return to the Muang Thang office on a date they advise or on 8 October and they confirm if my application is accepted

Re #1...you will not need the letter. Thai immigration is aware that the UK Embassy is not issuing them.

thanks James. That’s ideal.

You were a bit impatient with your two attempts to post your question.

It is nightime in Thailand and I do think the Admin and Moderator Team do sleep at night.

I happened to see your post moments ago as I am in the USA at this time.

I am sure you will have helpful replies from Thailand on Tuesday morning.

Hi James. It was not impatience with the two questions. I did not see the automated message from my first post that moderators review and approve prior to the post going live. I only realised this when I saw the message quickly displayed on screen when I posted the 2nd. Apologies
