Hi everyone!

I got my DTV approved while being in Thailand. So now i need to leave Thailand and come back.

What do you think is the cheapest way? Knowing that i'm currently based in Hua Hin, and next month i'll be in Koh Phangan. If i can leave and come back the same day, that's the best.

I'll do it either from Hua Hin or Koh Phangan.

Thank you very much 🙏

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user seeks advice on the cheapest way to leave Thailand and return on the same day after getting DTV visa approval, while based in Hua Hin and planning to travel to Koh Phangan. The community discusses various options including flights to nearby countries, border runs to Myanmar, and the feasibility of using ground transportation. Suggestions include checking flights to cities like Singapore and Vietnam, utilizing visa agencies for border runs, and traveling by train or coach. There are concerns about the legitimacy of the DTV application process conducted while in Thailand and recommendations for safe travel.

Such long thread for basic stuff.. Open kayak.com website and look for cheapest international two way flight from your nearest airport. End of story

Most comfortable way is to fly from DMK or BKK to Phnom Penh or HCMC and back in a day. I guess the cheapest return tickets are going to be around 3000-4000 baht just for the flight.

Did you apply online in Vietnam? And how long did you stay there from the beginning of your application, until you got confirmed?

from Hua Hin, an agency called LIME TOURS is organizing border runs to Ranong/Kawthoung Myanmar

Best to check with a visa agent as she will call to the closest border to you and ask them if you can do it in the same day as some borders want you to spend a night there. I did my dtv initial run to Cambodia the same day by using the agent on soi 6 she made sure i could cross and come back right away.

Can I ask which way you used to apply?🙏🏻 Simply curious

Just go anywhere close by and enjoy a few days there then back to Thailand 🤔

did you use the work stream?

Check flights to the closest cities: Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Laos. Unless you want to sit on a bus for hours to do a border run.

But as you applied while in Thailand which you’re not suppose to do, I would go up by plane to be safe.

@David *******
he got his visa APPROVED while in Thailand.
David ********
@Martin *******
ah yes, thanks for pointing that out. Then he can pretty much exit however he wants. Personally I would rather find cheap flights than sit on a bus for hours.

@David *******
you’re welcome and yes I agree.

@Martin *******
and if on DTV should be able to afford flights because you have to prove income haha

There agents banking

0 in bank for this visa too wow

but cant put 60 days in bank.Some embassies asking for long time statement

Cheapest way is probably to ride your bicycle. If you don't have one, hitchhike or walk

I read there are agencies organizing visa bounces from Hua Hin to an open Myanmar border. It's same day, but I don't know if anyone can.

How did you do this inside of Thailand?
George *******
@Mateusz ******
He probably means he applied for it outside Thailand, then entered Thailand on visa exempt or something and checked his email while in Thailand and hey presto his DTV was in his inbox.
Travis ********
@Mateusz ******
he may have applied in the other country, and then re-entered Thailand while the DTV approval was processing

that's exactly what happened yes

this is exactly what he said!

he said got approved in Thailand, no additional information assumption is applied in Thailand. I replied to "he may have" being an assumption
Fontaine **************
@Lee **********
i’m not here to argue, bro🤷🏻‍♂️ he applied when he was out of the country and got approved after he came back in.. We’re all wondering if that’s any sort of problem because it does not stay anywhere the specifics of this situation. The application process or State you must be outside of time when you reply, which I am currently and I already applied. I have three weeks for it to get a approved. Otherwise my trip arrives with flights and accommodations already scheduled. Is there anything that prevents me from going to Thailand in three weeks if I’m not approved while I wait for the approval? Then just make a visa run and come back to activate the DTV?
Wesley ********
@Mateusz ******
fraud most likely
Rob *********
@Wesley *******
Fraud is paying an "agency" that borrows you the money, many DTVs were issue like this way.
Lee ***********
@Rob ********
how many do you have the numbers?
Rob *********
@Lee **********
No numbers, but after living here for a few years I know how it works. Some "agencies" do this "job", you can see their publicity even on Facebook, easy to check .
Paul *********
you have to be outside of Thailand to apply right !!!

From Hua Hin I would get a bus up to BKK and fly to SGN in the morning. Loads of flights back that afternoon and evening
MJ *******
so you lied on your application. they will be looking for your stamp for the country you applied in. good luck getting back in.
Sean *******
Of course it's allowed they switched to evisa so people could travel before their visa was approved.

He said he got it approved while he's in Thailand. I didn't read in his post that he said he APPLIED for his DTV while IN Thailand.
Martin ********
@MJ ******
he didn’t apply from Thailand.
ElĂas ********
@MJ ******
don't be so quick to assume... he would have applied when I was visiting the other country, not from Thailand. Remember you do need to upload a proof of location when doing the application. He might even have visited the Embassy in person if it was before they went online.
Toni *******
@MJ ******
you cant make that assumption.
Marvin *********
ORIGINAL POSTER
Haha you are funny. I applied in Vietnam and came back in Thailand before the approval date because i had something urgent to do here
Julien ****
You can apply from Thailand with some lawyers and agent.
MJ *******
" It is important to note that you are only able to apply if you are currently not in Thailand."
Incognia **********
If they have good system while in process they can see he came back to Thailand while process.So wont be problem
Incognia **********
@MJ ******
while apply he wasnt.After apply he is.
Peter *******
@MJ ******
Exactly! Does not preclude you from applying while outside of Thailand, then entering on normal 60 day before approval has been granted.
Toni *******
@MJ ******
exactly. And you dont know where he waa when he applied, end of story
MJ *******
ahh typical westerners trying to fight. i don't make the rules nor am i immigration. he is going to have a hell of time explaining this to immigration. hopefully he gives an update.
Julien ****
@MJ ******
It does not say that you are required to stay in that country after you applied. If there is a requirement, send me the documentation that proves it and you will have my apology.
Fontaine **************
@Julien ***
I would also like to see the same specified as hundreds of people are asking if they can enter Thailand after they have applied because of their flight and other accommodation plans while they’re waiting on their approval. I’m in the United States and applied here, but it may not get approved in time. Where does it state that you can’t travel into Thailand as long as you follow the rules by applying while you were not in Thailand??
Julien ****
@Fontaine *************
it does not state it.
MJ *******
@Julien ***
"After the e-Visa application has been approved, a confirmation e-mail will be sent to applicants, which can be printed out for presenting to airlines and Thai immigration officials when traveling to Thailand."
Julien ****
@MJ ******
It does not state that you have to stay. Most of us westerners are visa exempt and we are not required to present anything as a tourist. It may be safer to stay but not mandatory. You can still go there as a tourist. Let's see what that fellow story is when he gets back in.
MJ *******
@Julien ***
yes he can still come in on tourist but he is trying to come in on DTV.
MJ *******
@Julien ***
what do you think

"Document indicating current location" means?
Fontaine **************
@MJ ******
that simply means that you’re proving you’re not in Thailand when you apply. We’re asking for where it states that you can’t come into Thailand afterwards?
Julien ****
@MJ ******
I sent a driving licence and it got approved. I agree that I would not have taken the risk of coming in before the approval but nothing seems to stop him from entering as a tourist and doing another border run once the DTV is approved. I bet that they will come up with stricter rule soon, this visa is very new.
MJ *******
@Julien ***
i wouldn't risk it either. been coming here for 24 years, currently here for the past 2.5 years. there is no way i would ever mess with immigration here.
Julien ****
@MJ ******
I agree.

I applied in Vietnam. I would suggest to spend 10 days there, they asked me additionnal information about my financial statement and in total it took 9 days

What additional information did they ask about? Did you need to show some type of live statement or was it enough to send the bank statement documents?

People used to do border runs to Ranong. Easily done in a day. My neighbour in Hua Hin did it multiple times. Whether or not that’s still a thing I have no idea.
