We are scheduled to get our non-o visa issued on Sept 15. Any idea what the 15 days is for? If the application is accepted is it ever rejected during processing and for what?
Anyway, apparently the 90 days of the non-o visa starts on the day of application. I do think I've read in here that the time starts on the day of application for a new visa, and it starts at the end of the current stay for an extension.
These are certainly questions we will ask at immigration on our next visit, but does anyone know if we can apply for the retirement extension at any office, or does it have to be at the same office the non-o was issued? I understand the 3 day before limit is no longer policy, so how early can we apply for the extension? I think I've read 45 days early. What are the documents required for the extension? If we are able to apply at Jomtien, that's likely where we will be.
Thanks for holding our hands on this again.
TLDR : Answer Summary
The 15 days mentioned for the non-O visa is a processing requirement due to the need for approval from the head office, rather than the local office issuing it directly. While rejection of the visa application is rare, it can happen under certain circumstances. The 90-day visa validity begins from the application date. Expats can apply for a retirement extension at any immigration office where their TM30 is filed, regardless of where the non-O visa was issued. While some offices allow applications 30 days in advance, others may permit it 45 days prior. Specific document requirements can vary by location, so checking with the local immigration office is advisable.
