What are the requirements for applying for a Non-O visa for retirement in Thailand, and how does the 15-day rule affect the application process?

Went to the Bluport immigration office in Hua Hin to start my non O visa for retirement. 2 hours in the queue, presented all my paperwork, was told I need to have at least 15 days left on my visa to apply. They gave me a 30 day extension, 1900 baht.

They told me to go to the main immigration office here and apply the sooner the better, but at least with 15 days or more on my visa.

I had 7 days left on mmy visa and the 800000 baht had just reached the 2 month requirement. I don't recall seeing the 15 day requirement before.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user visited the Bluport immigration office in Hua Hin to apply for a Non-O visa for retirement but encountered a requirement for having at least 15 days remaining on their current visa. They received a 30-day extension at a cost of 1900 baht and were advised to apply at the main immigration office as soon as possible. Several comments clarified that most offices enforce the 15-day minimum for processing and that applications for Non-O visas must be handled at the main office, not at Bluport.

Thanks for the replies. I told 2 people who I thought were familiar with the process and they said I would be good. I asked the greeter at Bluport Immigration if I could apply and he said yes unless I misunderstood him.

you misunderstood and didn’t do your research before. Go to the main immigration office and downstairs they will do a basic check of your paperwork before sending you to the queue. The lady that has the copy shop behind the office also knows what docs you need and how many copies etc.

Your bank statements and passbook updates can be from the day before

You can't do that at Bluport first off all, need to be done at main immigration office.

Only Tourist visa extension, Residence notification, re entry permit and 90 days report in Bluport Office. Dont need 800k THB seasoned 2 months for non-O extension at Hua Hin main office.

Most offices require a minimum of 15 days left on your current stamp to apply for the in country Non-O visa because it goes under review for 2 weeks. (Chiang Mai requires 15 business days left on the stamp to apply there)

Also you can only get the Non-O visa at the main immigration office (so they told you correctly) Bluport never accepted Non-imm visa applications

I'd say be mindful of the up coming Songkran holidays next month and go apply for the 90 day Non-O..

I don't think that you needed the 800k baht seasoned for 2 months to apply for the in country 90 day Non-O at Hua Hin, (AFAIK it's only Jomtien that does that)

Well known requirement. The 1st one takes up to 15 working days

@Andy ******
that 15 working day is a Chiang Mai policy, most are just 15 days or more left on your stamp
