TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking health insurance options that will meet the requirements for a retirement visa in Thailand, specifically addressing their age (67) and pre-existing medical conditions (blood pressure and cholesterol). Commenters clarify that insurance is primarily required for the NON-OA and OX visas. They suggest alternative options like obtaining a NON-O visa first, which doesn't require insurance, and then shopping for a suitable insurance plan. Additionally, discussions touch on the availability of medications in Thailand and the importance of reading insurance fine print.
NON-O RETIREMENT VISA RESOURCES / SERVICES
  • Go to the Retirement Visa Section for information on requirements, including age restrictions, financial requirements, and necessary documentation.
  • For immediate assistance, contact Thai Visa Centre directly via LINE at @ThaiVisaCentre or Email them.
  • Explore recent discussions by using the Non-O Retirement Visa tag in the search box at the top of the page.

False yourself to take up something that is healthy for you and less chance of needing insurance. I retired 3 years ago ,I have paid my own medical and dental care costs totaling £300 the majority of that was at the dentist which wouldn't be covered on a normal insurance policy and I also paid 900 baht for medical certificate for retirement visa all out of the £300 . If I had a good medical insurance it would of been minimum £1500 per year. I feel that I have £4500 in credit,if I do need medical help. 🙏

The blood pressure medication here at the pharmacies is great. Not sure about cholesterol though.

Getting insurance isn't a problem. Most will exclude prior conditions. You can buy most BP meds over the counter here. DM me if you want the name of an insurance agent.

Look at IP6, Insitol 12,000mg and Red Yeast Rice. This combination took both my cholesterol and BP to normal levels. You need to take Magnesium, Potassium, Sodium ie electrolytes with IP6. Do some research on the power of these supplements.

Read the fine print before You buy insurance . Better safe than Sorry. Insurance Is just business usually doesn't work at times. Good luck and stay healthy👍🏼

You don’t need insurance for the Non O ‘for Retirement’. Get that visa.

You can then buy whatever insurance suits you best and not worry about it meeting Immigration requirements.

Come here on a tourist visa and get a Non-O retirement extension. Then you can pick any insurance company. I switched from OA to O myself.

What visa are you thinking of getting? Only the non OA (or OX) require insurance.
