Hello, I want to spend my retirement in Thailand. I will travel to Thailand on a family visa for good and I want to get insurance there but unfortunately I have pre-existing conditions. I have already read a lot about this topic regarding pre-existing conditions but unfortunately I haven't found anything suitable. What kind of health insurance can you recommend that you have had good experiences with and is affordable? Please no answers that are not related to this topic.

TLDR : Answer Summary
An expat seeking retirement in Thailand asks for recommendations on health insurance options that are affordable and cover pre-existing conditions. Responses highlight the challenges in finding suitable coverage due to age and medical history, suggesting consultation with advisors like Peter Wands who can assist in navigating multiple insurance providers. Recommendations include Cigna Global and Allianz for their potential to cover pre-existing conditions under certain circumstances, albeit at a higher cost. Other comments recommend seeking professional agents and discuss the prohibitive costs associated with affordable plans.

Seek a professional insurance agent or broker. Sure they make money from their jobs, but not using one will not lower your premium (you will not pay a higher premium for using one).

You can try with a global policy. Big companies such as Allianz or Cigna have policies that can cover you worldwide except US, they can cover life conditions under some circumstances. The only problem is expect to pay not less than USD 5000 a year

I don’t know many insurance companies that will cover you - age and pre existing conditions make it very hard

What do you mean you haven’t found anything suitable ? Have you already contacted companies or agents ?

Affordable will cost you an arm and a leg mate

In which case it’s not really “affordable” then is it?

Depends on whether you need arms and legs. 🤣

Cigna Global will take into account whether your pre-existing conditions could be regarded as 'resolved' or 'controlled'. Most other companies will simply exclude them.
