Hi everyone,

I'm trying to get a yellow book from Wang Noi district office, I am married to Thai citizen and we were married in Thailand. I am a UK citizen. They are asking for the following documents and won't provide the yellow book until I can provide them:

1) A document confirming that our marriage is legal in the UK.

2) A document showing my residence in the UK. (I've been living in Thailand for 4 years and technically I'm no longer resident in the UK)

Both requests are completely illogical and the British Embassy is clear about the notorial documents it provides and the first one isn't on the list.

Has anyone else ran into this problem? Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks - Rob

TLDR : Answer Summary
A UK citizen seeking a yellow book from the Wang Noi district office faces challenges providing requested documents, including proof of legal marriage in the UK and residence in the UK despite living in Thailand for four years. Community responses suggest varying requirements based on experience, with some recommending the Thai marriage certificate and a residence letter from immigration as alternative approaches, while others express frustration over bureaucratic obstacles and lengthy processes.

Good luck to you. I submitted my documents 27 weeks ago tomorrow, no further forward still waiting. For yellow book and pink ID. Married to a Thai for almost 4 years. Moved back to Thailand in January this year.

I got my yellow book before we where married it's not about marriage it is confirmation of residence in Thailand

*Letter from immigration

*Two government employees witnesses

*Head of household in blue book had to be present

I should also add I was the first person the administrator had ever issued one for, thus he got the book out literally

Yes, rediculous, in Kanchanaburi they wanted a copy of my birth certificate together with a translation notarised by the UK embassy. I think it's a scam so I keep having to pay for residence cert from Immigration.

I had to show original thai wedding cert, I'm Australian working in Singapore. I didn't have to prove much else other than the head of our Moo signing a paper to say I lived here
