What do I need to know about using my wife's Blue Book for my spousal visa application in Thailand?

I met and married my Thai wife, of 6 years, here in the U.S. while she was attending University. I retired last October, and we are planning to move to Thailand on November 1st of this year for at least 2 years. We are in the process of getting our Virginia marriage certificate authenticated so we can register our with the local provincial office when we arrive in Thailand.

I will be entering Thailand with a 90-day non-O visa and applying for a 1-year spousal visa upon our arrival. We will be living with my in-laws while we look for a house or condominium to purchase. We are expecting to be living with my in-laws for a while as we will be renovating any property we buy.

I understand we need to have my wife's Blue Book when applying for the non-O spousal visa. The Blue Book is currently in my mother-in-law's name, as my wife bought that house for her mom. How should we navigate the Blue Book requirement?

Any advice is appreciated!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user, an expatriate planning to move to Thailand with his Thai wife, is seeking advice on the Blue Book requirement for their spousal visa application. They are entering Thailand on a 90-day non-O visa and plan to apply for a 1-year spousal visa upon arrival. The Blue Book, currently in the mother-in-law's name, is needed for the application process. Comments suggest that it's not necessary for the home to be in the wife's name and provide steps for how to navigate the Blue Book situation, including submitting the needed documents, obtaining the appropriate permissions from relatives, and registering their address.

You don't need to apply for a new visa you get a visa extention for a year based on marriage on your current O visa.

You can live at any address you just need to register where your living so you'll need mums book or a copy of it and I'd imagine a letter from your wife and mother saying your living there. Take photos of you at the house inside the house with your wife show the house number in at least one photo.

Sorry we rent at the moment so just needed the landlord's book for the process.

You'll probably get a form put in your passport stating your address.

You only need a copy of the house book your wife is listed in, usually in the parent's house book. This and a copy of her Thai ID verify that she is in fact Thai as far as immigration is concerned. Being you'll be staying with her relatives, you will need a copy of the house book the actual owner of the house is listed in, and a copy of their Thai ID card. Add to this a simple letter stating you are living at that residence, whether there is rent paid, or not, and signed and dated by both of you. It's treated just like a rental.

. All you.need is the housebook your wife is registered to, regardless of who is the housemaster. You will also need a photocopy of the first page and page with your wife listed on it. Copies signed by housemaster and get them to write on copy that you have their permission to live there and signed. I've done this 4 times with no issues.

You can register at any address.

Doesnt have to be in your wife's name.

The person who holds the book can make a copy of all required documents, or just go with you with book and ID to register your TM30.

my situation is exactly the same as yours except that the house we are temporarily staying in is registered to my brother-in-law. He came to immigration with us and we had no issues

Why don’t you apply for the extension based on retirement? It’s a lot less of a hassle. You will need 800 K Thai Bhat in bank account.

Also I like the option of being able to to obtain a work permit under the spousal visa, so I have the option to do do some Cybersecuirty consulting work while in Thailand.

Thank you, for your suggestion. That is an option we have discussed and will be back option if needed. I just really don't want to keep the 800k Bhat in the bank. I would rather see that extra 400k making money than just sitting in a Thai bank.
