Hi all ...there's various different information about what documents are needed for a residence certificate online...does any who has got one in Chiang Mai know what I need to bring as I live in my wife's house and have no rental agreement or ownership paperwork myself. Many thanks in advance ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ

TLDR : Answer Summary
The requirements for obtaining a residence certificate in Chiang Mai vary. Mainly, a TM30 form is needed to prove your address, which must be filed by your landlord or spouse. Your wife should accompany you to the immigration office with her ID and house registration documents. Although some discussions mention needing additional documents like rental contracts or ownership papers, these do not seem to be necessary for obtaining the residence certificate in Chiang Mai specifically.

I had a rental agreement which they needed but I had to show the owners copy of passport. He was a USA resident but owned several units.

Pascal Dumont Take your wife to Immigration? As it the wives are sitting there on a coat hanger? As a decoration?

What if she is working full time job and the Immigration office may be 100km away?

You don't need any of that. You need a TM30 to prove address.

In Sa Kaeo province recently, although I had a valid TM30, I also required signed copies of my father-in-laws ID and tatbian baan

This person is asking about Chiang Mai. Chiang Mai only requires a TM30.

And, how do you make TM30? Just walk in on your own and tell "this is my TM30", take it?

You can not fill TM30 yourself. It has to be the landlord, your wife or whoever. They need their business registration for renting.

They can give you their login and password for subsequent (if needed) new TM30, like after going around and changing addresses (travel, hotels).

Living with whatever person is accommodating you, they must log it in online or go with you to the Immigration office with their ID, Blue book, could be more , even marriage certificate.

Big but, BUT, if one does not need any services from Immigration, TM30 can be freely ignored.

Jim Davis Yes TM30 no problem to get ...it just said on a couple of posts that you needed to bring rental contract or house papers but as I know every immigration office will not have the same rules, I was asking specifically about Chiang Mai and now I'm ready to go. So thanks again for the info guys.
