I'm planning to apply for "non o" visa based on marriage. Please, any info appreciated. What documents do I need? I understand that I need 400,000 baht in bank account 2 months before I apply. I have been told that I need to apply for this visa outside of Thailand. Thank you in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
To apply for a Non-O visa based on marriage, you'll typically need the following documents: a marriage certificate, a copy of your wife's national ID, a copy of your house registration (blue book), your passport, and two photos. It's important to have a bank account with a deposit of 400,000 baht two months prior to your application. While some suggest that you must apply for the visa outside of Thailand, others have shared experiences of being able to apply for a 90-day Non-O visa from within Thailand under certain conditions. After receiving this visa, you can later apply for a one-year extension with the same documentation.

My husband is in the process of applying for a single entry non o marriage visa in Australia. This gives him 90 days stay in Thailand. The required docs are your passport and a copy of wife's national ID, house registry (blue book), marriage certificate, and a photo.

Once in Thailand, he'll open a bank account solely in his name with a ฿400,000 deposit to meet the financial requirement.

After 2 months, he'll head to immigration office to apply for a one year extension. Same docs are required plus bank book.

He is required to report to immigration every 90 days. If he leaves the country, he'll need to apply for a re-entry permit to ensure this visa won't get void.

I found it overwhelmingly complex at first. It took me a few goes to understand but I think I have it down packed. Good luck!

yep, that's how a LOT of people do it. BUT if you're already here IN thailand you can apply for the 90 day Non-O visa at the immigration office

Unfortunately
@J**
you are talking about the documentation to get a Non-O visa from a thai consulate in another country

NOT

the documentation that's required to get a 90 day Non-O from the immigration office inside the country :/

@Lu***
You do NOT need to leave the country.

In Chiang Mai you need 21 days left on your current stamp to apply for an in country Non-O visa based on marriage. You would need to go make an appointment at the immigration office, meet the financial requirements and provide the appropriate documentation BUT you can most definitely get a 90 day Non-Immigrant Type O visa based on marriage at the immigration office up there.

Once you get that and you have 45 days left on the 90 day stamp they gave you you then apply for a yearly extension of stay, again by meeting the requirements.

The Non-O 90 day visa costs 2000baht, the year extension costs 1900baht.

Even u have legally married and stay in Thailand, but still need to apply visa outside of country. Hope they will fix this one in the future

That is 100% FALSE :/ You can indeed get a 90 day Non-O visa inside the country

Most immigration offices will let you go from a 30 day visa exempt or a 60 day tourist visa to a 90 day Non-O visa inside the country with the correct documentation

where are you in thailand and what type of stamp do you have now and how much time is left on it currently

Hi Tod, I'm in Chiang Mai. I arrived in Thailand yesterday and have just extended my 30day tourist visa on arrival. I got an extra 60days as I have Thai wife and baby. Immigration told me I have to leave Thailand after 90 days and apply for my non o visa outside of Thailand
