Could anyone provide a laundry list of requirements to get the extension of stay based on marriage (O) visa? Research online is throwing up some contrary and confusing requirements. Thank you.

TLDR : Answer Summary
To extend a NON-O visa based on marriage in Thailand, the following requirements typically apply: 1. Passport and copies: data page, Non-O visa, entry stamp, and departure card. 2. Your wife must be present, along with her ID card and housebook (with copies). 3. Financial requirements: either 400K THB in a Thai bank account (seasoned for 2 months), a monthly income of 40K THB, or an embassy letter confirming a 40K THB monthly income. 4. Marriage certificate (either the rose border certificate or a translated copy). 5. Completed application form, 2 passport photos, and a processing fee of 1,900 THB. Note that additional requirements may vary by immigration office, including potential requests for TM30 filing, home maps, photographs, and witness interviews.

You need to go to your local immigration office for a handout of requirements to be sure. As Benjamin said, each immigration office has a different requirement list and nobody knows which immigration office you are going to deal with.
using chaengwattana doesn't change the fact you should slog on out there BEFORE you go for your extension every year to get the newest hand out and have your thai wife ask them if there's anything NOT on the list you need. ;) :)
