TLDR : Answer Summary
The Thai Embassy in HCMC reports that applying for a Non-O visa based on marriage is a straightforward process, taking only one day without any queue. Required documents include a signed copy of the wife's ID, marriage certificate (both sides), original marriage certificate, a letter from the wife to the consulate, a copy of the wife's Tabien Baan, and one photo (not necessarily a passport photo). The process incurs a fee of 200 USD, with no additional questions posed by the friendly staff. Comments from users provide further clarifications on potential additional requirements, such as proof of funds, the nationality of the applicant, and the format of the needed documents.

@Glenn *******
Take the documents the O/P mentions as you'll be fine. Remember they ONLY take US dollars at the thai consulates in Vietnam AND that you need that hand written letter addressed to the consulate from your thai wife asking that they issue you the visa.
