TLDR : Answer Summary
In January 2025, to extend a Non-Immigrant O visa based on being married to a Thai national at Chaengwatthana, Bangkok, the following documents are needed: passport, wife's ID, updated bankbook, KR3 form, TM7 application with a new photo, copies of essential pages of the passport and visa, TM30 form, 90 days report, Kor ror 2, copies of wife's ID and house registration (tabian baan), bank statements, lease agreement, pictures of the couple at home, and a map. It's important to prepare original and copies of these documents and to check with the officer for any specific requirements.

They came to my house the next day and interview people in the village. Atleast my investigation from the police were nice. They offered me have drinks with them in the future. But the lady at immigration was so rude. She said she didn't like the picture and ask why I didn't have a better house . She tried everything to find a reason not to approve until I got a supervisor and filed a police complaint against her. Things got approved immediately after that. Some people live here for years and never get the police visit.. they all have Google maps bit they want you draw a map as well. This day on age with GPS and Google maps they will still play games.

"Lease agreement"? For what? You're living with your wife in her house I assume. Just provide a copy of the tabien baan. That should be good enough.

great informative post fella. πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘.

In my 8 years here have had to use 3 different immigration offices and they all had different requirements. And … the requirements also changed a little at each immigration office over time re marriage visa.
Matthew *********
@Wayne ******
could you imagine a national standard for all offices to use.
Mike ******
Every Office is different, for example in Hua HIn where I do my extension, I have to produce my bank book with 100,000 B in it, and the witness has to attend.
Matthew *********
@Mike *****
why not the standard of
*****
0 or
*****
0 for marriage or retirement visa. Where did they get this
*****
0 amount from
Mike ******
I do not use the lump sum approach, I submit for marriage to Thai visa extension the proof of 40,000 monthly option. The 100,00 amount is what I also have to show in my bank book, nothing to do with visa requirements, just one of the extra items that my office require which is not quoted on the requirements needs. Much like every office has its own quirky rules. When they get a new OIC, he/she brings in their own supplementary rules. You just have to find out these and apply them, no good arguing that they are not on the requirements list

I am applying currently for marriage visa in Pattaya and my visa is 4 weeks under consideration... I have not yet understood the rules, how immigration proves that I am living together with my wife... On one hand I heard they will make an appointment in our home... on the other hand I heard that I have to present a family member or a neighbour to testify the status every year for prolonging the visa...πŸ€”

What happened to us was for the first couple of years immigration officers visited us in our home. We had to bring a neighbour in to confirm we were what we said we were. Each year we had previously submitted a set of recent photographs of me and the wife in the kitchen, bedroom etc. with the application for extension. After 3 years they are not bothering to visit any more. This was Nonthaburi whilst my passport was under consideration.

@Akeem *******
sounds like you're applying for the year "extension of stay" based on marriage to a thai and already got the 30 day under consideration period stamp

They would have told you IF they were going to do a home visit when you applied,

OR

they'll call you shortly after you got the stamp and set it up. They can indeed ask you have a neighbor handy. They just want to make sure the marriage is legit, you're living together etc.
Ellie *******
@Akeem *******
, That depends on the office. Also, they do case-by-case. Some offices do home visits. Some offices do interviews on video calls. Some offices ask for witnesses on those occasions or ask you to take witnesses to the immigration office.

You need to ask your local IO and follow their direction about that.
Philip ****
What β€œcopy of a map” do you mean ?
Jean-baptiste *******
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Philip ***
they want a map of where you live, but for whatever reason many offices don't accept Google maps screenshots. So you just make a very basic map of your area using paint and it's fine.
Philip ****
@Jean-baptiste ******
thx . I heard about it, that they make you draw that at the immigration office? So a map how I get from my condo to CW or just what is around my area?

Absolutely stupid! But it is what it is
Matthew *********
@Philip ***
yep it's power trip game. It's 2025 and everyone uses Google map. I used it and hand draw the map.
Tony ********
@Philip ***
i've used same map for last 8 years at CW, A4 paper, top half copy of google map CW to my house, bottom half copy of hand drawn map of main SOI to my house, covers either preference of the IO.
Tod *********
easy now
@Philip ***
it's hardly stupid at all, they want you to draw the immediate area around where you say you live to show you actually KNOW that area (as in you really live there) rather than just pulling a google map image

It doesn't have to have anything but basic roads, a box with an x marking where you live and a landmark or two

I only draw a 4 way intersection, label the streets, put a box that says "todz house" and mark a 7 Eleven on the corner πŸ˜›
Tod *********
Chiang Mai had a form that they used to hand you to draw your map on, like this
Tod *********
this is my "map"
Matthew *********
@Tod ********
I can tell you the lady at nakhon phanom would have never accept that.
Ellie *******
@Philip ***
, CW accepts a hand-drawn map from a major landmark near to your place, such as station, shopping mall, etc.

some people say they ask a hand-drawn map to see if you actually know where you live, as registered address. But this is a big guess.
Jean-baptiste *******

@Philip ***
well I think if you don't bring an acceptable map they make you draw it. But I prefer to prepare mine. It's a map of your home area. So you point your house/condo with the name, your soi, 2 or 3 big roads nearby and some famous spots around you (a mall, a movie theater, a stadium, etc.)
Dave ************
What’s a KR3? never heard of that before.
Tod *********
here's the two certificates you get when you marry inside thailand

the rose bordered KR-3 (which cannot be re-issued, you get one and your wife gets one)

and

the all thai KR-2 (the one the immigration offices usually make you update at ANY amphur [city hall] once a year) <- that's the paper that shows you're still married πŸ™‚

@Dave ***********
it's the marriage certificate. It's the document surrounded by a weird flower pattern with your name and your wife's.
Dave ************
@Jean-baptiste ******
ah ok πŸ‘
Tod *********
Thank you for that detailed update, glad it worked out

just curious if you got a 21 day under consideration stamp (C/W switched over to that a good while ago)
Jean-baptiste *******
ORIGINAL POSTER
Yes, I was surprised to see 21 days when the officer handed me my passport. But of course I didn't complain 😁
Tod *********
@Jean-baptiste ******
yep, they started that last year some time
