Hi, my husband holds Non-Immigrant O (marriage) visa and granted 90 days to stay until April,2023 in Thailand. We will start preparing for documents around Feb, and I wonder about required documents and the process of applying for a 1 year extension at Changwattana since we live in Bangkok.

1.What are required documents ?

I check on immigration website switching from Thai to English language, and they required different documents.

2.What is next step once his extension is granted ? e.g. Is it compulsory to renew the visa every 90 days by leaving the country or renew once the extension is nearly finished ?

Thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The process for extending a Non-Immigrant O visa (marriage) in Thailand includes meeting specific financial requirements, such as having 400,000 baht in a Thai bank account for at least two months before the application. You should apply for the extension when less than 45 days remain on the current entry stamp. After applying at the Chaengwattana immigration office, you will receive a 2-week consideration stamp. Upon return after two weeks, if approved, the one-year extension will be granted. Additionally, 90-day reporting is required, but there is no need to leave the country every 90 days.

My advice is checking the list with the immigration office too. They should have a printed checklist for you because it changes slightly from office to office sometimes.

Have you or your landlord submitted TM.30 online before ? Is it the screenshot of tm.30 notification enough to substitute a receipt?

screen shot of the online TM30 that the data has been entered in and saved (by using the SEARCH function to access it) is fine

As long as he meets the financial requirements (400K baht in a thai bank account in his name only for 2 months before hand, he can apply for a yearly extension when he has 45 days or less left on his current entry stamp from the Non-O visa.

I would GO out to Chaengwattana with your husband and get the hand out from Section L-1 listing the requirements to get the year extension based on marriage to a thai.

he will apply for the extension, pay the 1900baht and get a 2 week under consideration stamp <- then he comes back in 2 weeks and gets the year extension inked in. After that he just does 90 day reporting (which is free)

He does NOT leave/come back every 90 days it's not that type of visa 🙁 He would apply for a new extension at the immigration office NEXT year when this one he's getting is running out.

This is what can be asked for at the immigration office for an extension based on marriage to a thai

that's why I said GO to Chaengwattana and get the handout that lists the exact requirements so that when you go apply there is no confusion about what documents or copies or photos, etc you need

you want the FIRST cubicle on the right in section L-1 where it says "Document Check"

That gurl in there has the hand out sheets for that section and L-1 is where you go for the marriage extensions 🙂
