TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking guidance on getting their husband's name added to their mother’s house registration in Thailand, specifically needing the US embassy in Bangkok to certify his passport. Community responses clarify the steps required, including notarization by the US Embassy, translation to Thai, certification by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and mention the distinction between yellow and blue house registration books for foreigners.

They do charge $50 to notarize the passport. If you'd the the phone number for the guy that had the passport translated at the MFA I'd be more than happy to PM it to you. BTW, what Amphur are you going to? Just curious.

There is no form for the notary concerning passport certifications. They will ask you what it is for and as long as it is not for marriage notarize it. I'm not sure of the difference but that's what they ask.

Notarized by the US Embassy, translated to Thai and then certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. I had it translated and then translated again by a place at the MFA. They called on of the girls upstairs that actually certifies the documents and she translated it to exactly what they would certify. If you go to the MFA website they give you the format and examples. In addition to my personal info of the picture page her translation included the Embassy's stamp translated and the constitution preamble which was on the example on the MFA site. I think if you didn't include that page in your copy they wouldn't need it translated though. Scan it and then crop the only page you need perhaps? Good luck.

It is not uncommon for an Amphur to require the passport be certified. Some Amphurs want the data page translated into thai and certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs office too.

Just so you know here's the requirements to get a yellow house book from Amphur Khlong Toey in Bangkok.

@Fa***
, yes, you need an appointment for everything at the US consulate that isn't an emergency (and a passport notary is not an emergency) ;) .

Do I need an appointment to have US embassy certifies his front page of his passport? Thank you 🙏🏻

FYI....each Amphur has somewhat different requirements.

Wowww thank you very much Mr.Tod. I went to my Amphur, the officer there she said I have to have his passport translated to Thai language and then I went to Consulate in BKK where there are many people who has translation service told me that he has to have his front page certifies by US embassy and then to have Ministry of Foreign Affairs office certifies it as well.

He can't get listed in a blue thai house book. foreigners are listed in yellow house books
