I have a question about a retirement visa , I got one July 2020 , I left the country in August 2020 but was unaware I needed a rentry stamp to enter on that visa. Is there any way to salvage this visa.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The individual inquired about salvaging a retirement visa obtained in July 2020 after leaving Thailand in August 2020 without a re-entry permit. The responses indicated that without the re-entry permit, the visa is considered void, requiring the individual to either apply for a new NON-O visa for retirement in Thailand or obtain one in their home country. It was emphasized that understanding the visa conditions, including the need for a re-entry permit before leaving Thailand, is crucial.

I'm shutting this down:

1. This group does not talk, mention, or acknowledge about using agents or helpers to acquire visas.

2. ALWAYS READ THE STAMPS IN YOUR PASSPORT! It is important for these reasons:

a. To make sure the immigration office stamped you in correctly. If the immigration office stamped you wrong, and you go on overstay because of a bad stamp, you would be punished. A bad stamp can be fixed for free at any immigration office.

b. To give you directions on what to do. If you are not clear what you should do, ask the immigration office.

3. A re-entry permit must be acquired before leaving Thailand. This can be purchased at any local immigration office, OR at some international airports. I know 100% that Bangkok International airport sells the re-entry permit 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

4. For those of you reading this who used an agent or helper, the below is an example of a re-entry permit. If you do not have a re-entry permit, and you want to leave Thailand, go and get the re-entry at your local immigration office. They are valid for the length of the extension of stay.

If it helps, I have made the same mistake.

Nope..... it's gone.

No need a new visa

To be fair to immigration, it does say on the extension stamp about a re-entry permit.

If he left one month after getting a visa there was no extension

Thanks, i hear its more of a hurdle trying to obtain one in your own country , as opposed to getting it in Thailand

Sorry but without the reentry permit you will need to start over to obtain a new Non O for retirement and the one year extension of stay based on retirement inside Thailand.

Or get the Non O for retirement in your home country... Then get the one year extension of stay based on retirement inside Thailand.

Or... Get the OA visa for retirement in your home country. It's good for one year on arrival and you keep your money in your home country bank.
