hello there, I got my OE visa extension (2nd year now, valid till May 2025). I went out of the country and when I entered yesterday the immigration officer was asking for re-entry permit which i didn’t have on my passport . Can I still get the re-entry permit now? Now i am only getting 60days visa. thank you for your advise.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user has an OE visa extension valid until May 2025 but failed to obtain a re-entry permit before leaving Thailand. Upon re-entry, they received only a 60-day visa and lost their original extension. Community members advise that without the re-entry permit, the user's previous visa is void, and they must start the visa application process over again, potentially applying for a 90-day in-country Non-O visa.

Yes you should have taken the re entry permit at the airport before passing immigration. You could have taken at some immigration before deciding to leave. Now u have to apply new cisa

You voided your OA leaving without buying a re-entry permit beforehand. You'll need to start the process all over again, or apply for a 90 day in-country Non O visa, and then apply for a 1 year extension when you have seasoned 800K in a Thai bank for 2 months.

san , the 800k is seasoned for 2 months or 3 months, i have 60days validity to stay now, thank you

@Benedetta ******
... 2 months seasoning before application but you can also extend your 60 day visa exempt entry by 30 days at the IO for 1900 baht to give you more time if required.

@Benedetta ******
why question my reply? I stated the requirement. The money also has to stay for 3 months after the extension is inked in and after that cannot go below 400k, then 2 months before you apply for your next extension you top it up to 800k again. But many just leave it untouched.

@Benedetta ******
, you have to apply for initial visa first. Those are requirements for a 1-year extension after initial visa. You need to check those for initial in-country Non-O visa at your local immigration office.

thank you, lesson learnt 🤣

Without a re-entry you lost your visa or extension. Its gone. The purpose of a re-entry permit is to keep your visa or extension alive.

Its easy to not know about it when comming from a visa with multiple re-entry included. Its a lesson you will not forget.

Not exactly sure what visa you had, but presumably a non-immigrant or extension thereof. Sadly the answer is whatever you had, has now gone because you did not get a re-entry permit prior to leaving the country. You are now on a visa exempt entry and will have to start all over again.

do i need to proof 800k and new health insurance?
Lloyd ********
You will need the 800k, but not the insurance, that is not a requirement for a Non-O based on retirement/over 50.

thanks Lloyd meaning to say when you extend you need to get how many stamp on the passport. i am on retirement OA visa

When you extended, you could have bought a re-entry then, or you could have got one at the airport before your flight. As I said, your OA extension is gone, if you wanted an OA again, you would have to apply in your home country. Or you could get an in country Non-O and then extend that, (with no health insurance requirements).
