Can I enter Thailand with a multi-entry Non-O visa after not obtaining a re-entry permit?

Hello group members. I'm a 57 year old UK passport holder and have multi-entry Non-O visa based on retirement which expires 25th November. I plan to fly back to Thailand on the 16th November. I did not obtain a re-entry permit prior to leaving Thailand on the 29th July. Will I be able to use my unexpired Non-O visa to gain entry into Thailand, and if possible, will I be stamped in for 90 days?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A UK passport holder with a multi-entry Non-O visa based on retirement can enter Thailand on November 16, provided they do so before November 28, when their extension expires. However, upon entry, they will only be stamped in until November 28, not for 90 days as requested. To stay longer, they must go to Thai immigration and apply for a new one-year extension. If they are unable to enter by November 28, they will need to apply for a new visa or enter visa-exempt for a short stay.

and on that note we are done. Good luck to the O/P, and remember terminology is critical in asking questions about visas/extensions
Strangely ******
Note to Everyone: I made the mistake of Not Getting the re-entry Visa. Caused me a lot of trouble. I won't make That mistake again.

And this shows once again why terminology is so important. 🙁

l you do NOT have any visa at this time. 😮

You HAD an in country 90 day Non-O visa back in 2020 but you got a yearly extension of stay on it Sept 3rd 2020 which is good until 28 Nov 2021

AND

you also got a multiple re-entry permit as well.

WHEN you enter the country on Nov 16th you'll be stamped in until the 28th of Nov. <- That is as long as the extension is valid for.

So you need to go to the immigration office and apply for another yearly extension as soon as you can once you're here (by meeting the proof of funds, etc) because if you show up on the 16th you're gonna get stamped in for 12 days on that currently valid extension/re-entry permit.

would I able to have this extension cancelled so I can get stamped in for longer on arrival? I am required to do 10 days quarantine on arrival and then it's a weekend so I won't be able to make any kind of application before expiry. Or should I apply for a visa from the UK prior to departure?

MOST consulates are willing to issue a new visa if you have 30 days or less remaining on your existing re-entry permit. You should have no problem getting a new single entry tourist visa from the Thai consulate in the UK.

James Miller, guys thanks for your input, either way, I can return to Thailand with what I have, and regardless of how long I'm stamped in for it is enough time to obtain a new visa as I already have everything else like funds in place and have even retained my rental property whilst away.

@Tom ******
ok, so basically I'm good to return to Thailand with what I have and should be stamped in for a further 90 days?
Wannikea *********
@Sodi ********
no, you'll get stamped in till the end of your extension November 28th. You are not on a visa, your visa is used, it was a stamp not a sticker. Within 90 days September 3rd 2020 (actually 30) you then got a 1 year extension. That's why your permission to stay is 14 months.
Tom *******
@Sodi ********
yes you can re entry and will get a stamp until 28 November. You must ask then inside Thailand again for an extention to uphold ur 1 year.status. Or you chose for a 30 day visa exempt stay or u make a new visa outside Thailand.
Wannikea *********
@Tom ******
No no no, you are 100% wrong. He does NOT get 90 days, he gets stamped in till November 28, 2021 period.
Wannikea *********
@Tom ******
Tom you don't know what your talking about
Wannikea *********
@Sodi ********
you have an extension of stay,not a visa,and you have a multi entry permit you bought. Proceed to Thailand

If you are do not enter Thailand by November 28th...

You must start all over with your obtaining a visa or arrive visa exempt and obtain the Non O visa for retirement at your local Thai immigration office.

In that case...

Suggest you enter visa exempt which gives you 30 days stay plus one added 30 day extension at local immigration office for 1,900 Thai baht in = 60 days stay.

During that time go to your local immigration office and pick up their list of requirements for the Non O visa based on retirement.

have to say, I've had multi-entry visas issued in other countries and never had to get a re-entry permit with a multi-entry visa. Kinda defeats the point.
Tom *******
@Sodi ********
that is right for the first year.

If u buy every year outside from Thailand a 1 year visa is OK. But if you go to immigration inside Thailand and ask there for 1 year extention, then it is a different story. Then you need a re entry permit.
Wannikea *********
Are you positively sure you have a valid visa or is it an extension of stay? If you are not sure in the least please post a picture of the visa with personal data blacked out.

I've just read it again, difficult to do as it's covered in stamps, but there's some small print which does say a re-entry permit is required.
Wannikea *********
@Sodi ********
no worries you have an extension till Nov 28th and a multi entry permit that you bought at the same time. Just go through COE process and buy 1 months worth of covid insurance for entry assuming you enter Thailand anytime after 10 days from now, you'll be stamped in till November 28th, then you can apply for another extension should you meet the requirements.

he says it is a multi entry visa expiring late November.
