I am currently on retirement visa that expires May 28th. I plan to go out of Thailand at the end of this month and reenter in May before my visa expires. I know I have to get a re-entry permit before leaving. When I come back, will they just allow me entry until my current visa expires? How long should I allow to apply and receive a new 1 year retirement visa? I plan to do it myself this year, I have money in the bank and health insurance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is currently on a retirement visa expiring on May 28th and plans to travel out of Thailand at the end of the month, returning in May. They need to obtain a re-entry permit before leaving. Upon re-entering, they will be allowed entry until their current visa expires. It's advised to apply for a new one-year retirement visa before the current visa expiration. Previous commenters confirmed that as long as a re-entry permit is obtained, the user can re-enter on the existing visa terms and should prepare to prove income for the renewal.

If you leave and having a re-entry permit, you will get the same Admitted until date as you have now as permitted up to, in your case 28th May 2022. You need to apply before that date for a new 1 year Extension of Stay.

How did you proved your income last year?

If banked money, you have to proof that you kept your promisses.

I guess that you do not have a visa.

I guess you have a big stamp with the text:

Extension of Stay permitted up to 28.05.2022?
