What are the requirements for applying for a visa in Vietnam as a UK contractor working remotely from Thailand?

I am currently living in Thailand working as a remote online contractor for a UK company. However I don’t get official pay slips etc. I could get a employment contract but I am worried if they ask for more information such as pay slips I won’t be able to produce them. How often do they ask for additional info like this? I’m planning on applying in vietnam.

I am considering just going the Muay Thai soft power route. It will basically double the cost of getting the DTV but it seems much more likely to succeed.

Does anyone have any advice?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is concerned about applying for a visa in Vietnam while working remotely for a UK company without formal pay slips. They are considering the Muay Thai soft power route, which is more expensive but potentially more successful. Community responses indicate that pay slips are usually not required for the application if an employment contract is presented, and having proper documentation like a portfolio and business profiles can help. Previous applicants suggest that providing sufficient proof of self-employment status, such as tax returns and contractor agreements, can also be beneficial.

If you are a UK contractor you will be registered with HMRC either as self employed or via a company. You should be able to show this and if you have tax returns show then too

Pay slips are not required. Get the employment contract and apply that way. The reason I personally would go that route is ... what happens if immigration ask for ongoing soft power course to extend or enter in the future? For Workaytion you can just produce your contract.

what kind of things need to be on the contract as I will modify my current one and get it resigned to ensure it passes. Currently thinking:

- work period of a year covering current timeframe

- stating remote work

- salary

Is there anything else specific that might help with approval?

Do I need things like company registration documents for the UK company? Things like getting the Managing Director to sign lots of paperwork and supply ID documents is an inconvenience.

Anonymous participant I have no direct experience. The 2 UK guys I know who did it had their own Ltd companies in the UK. Showed company docs, tax return and wrote themselves a letter saying they could work remotely

thats a good point I was wondering about this also.

Anonymous participant It might never happen and nobody can predict the future. However, we saw something not so dissimilar with the questioning of some with ED Visa. The MFA issues the DTV. Immigration deal with entries and extensions.

the OP is asking for advice on the easiest approval method. Soft power applications such as with Muay Thai documents appear to be more straight forward and less likely to be asked for additional documents provided from a credible legitimate source. There are less variables open to interpretation.

Also there is nothing in the future to prevent using DTV for the workcation route or vice versa from what I understand once DTV is approved. This is another reason why this visa is a fantastic option for many.

As I heard from some of my friend , they don't ask for the pay slip, but if you can mention on the employment contract, how much the company hire you per month and have the company stamp on it Or just prepare your portfolio nicely . That's enough.

Be relax and no need to worry too much. It's easy to get approved.

I applied as a freelancer in Vietnam and submitted only portfolio, service contractor agreement with the company and business profile of the company.Got approval within 3 working days.

Hope this helps you😊
