Hey there! I get that this might seem redundant for a lot of specialists. I'm a retired US military vet over 50, pulling in more than 65,000 baht a month from my pensions, plus I've got a financial portfolio that's over 800,000 baht. After checking out some older posts, it looks like I can qualify for a Retirement visa (without the hassle of depositing 800,000 in a Thai bank), and I'm also interested in the DTV Softcore visa since I want to learn Muay Thai.

So, my main question is: what are the pros and cons of each visa option? If I can qualify for both, which one is easier to deal with in the long run?

I heard that with the DTV soft core visa, you have to leave the country every 180 days, but that's not an issue for me. And most of the gyms offer courses 1 year or less of duration, meaning after that course Legally I would of out of status

Heya everyone, I’m new to this awesome group and hoping to find some help in understanding visa options for Thailand. I’ve just read about the DTV bit still quite unclear as to how to get one. I’d appreciate any help with the below questions.

1. Is there a good how to guide anywhere?

2. I’d need to apply on a soft power basis, would enrollment in a Thai language school be sufficient.

3. Has anyone had any success with applying on the basis of going to Thailand to learn Thai?

4. If the soft power course ends after 6-12 months, does the visa remain active for 5 years?

5. How do I kick start the process and how long does it take?

Hi all. Anyone on a dtv under Muay Thai. I'm in Kanchanaburi. Unfortunately no gym here has the sports accredited certificate . For approval. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I really don't want to stay in Bangkok. Thanks in advance. 🙏

Hello

Has anyone used petchnumnoi Muay Thai gym in Phuket before? I’m thinking of booking a DTV course with them but haven’t seen any posts on here about this gym.

Thank for any advice

✨ Question about the Soft Power DTV Visa (Thailand) ✨ — especially the courses that actually qualify.

I’ve seen that things like Muay Thai, Thai cooking, cultural training and even wellness or fitness courses are included, but I can’t seem to find an official list anywhere.

Also, I’m a bit confused about the medical route. I need some dental work done soon — but would that actually make me eligible for a 5-year DTV visa, even if the treatment only lasts around 6 weeks?

Ideally, I’d love to just do a yoga or fitness-related course, but I’m open to whatever works best for the visa requirements.

If anyone has gone through this process or knows a school / course that’s been accepted under the Soft Power DTV, please share! 🙏

Would really appreciate any tips, links, or firsthand experiences.

Has anyone with Chinese passport successfully applied for DTV at Thai Embassy Kuala Lumpur recently? I'm currently in KL and planning to apply. Need to know if it's feasible or should I go to Hanoi or somewhere else instead. Which city you recommend and which muya Thai club in Thai you recommend
