Hi! My non-o marriage visa will expire on 7.12.24 and until now, I had no idea I can just extend it without leaving Thailand!

Is there a time limit for the extention? And as I understand from other posts, every immigration office has their own rules? I'm going to visit the one in Sriracha tomorrow. Please give me a few advices before I go there😅🙏

TLDR : Answer Summary
You can extend your Non-O marriage visa in Thailand without leaving, but the extension must be applied for before your current visa stamp expires. Key requirements include showing a monthly income of at least 40,000 baht or having 400,000 baht in a Thai bank account for at least two months prior to application. It's advisable to bring your spouse to the immigration office, as they may also request verification of your living situation.

hi I have no o marriage and it has been extended to 1 year more For me it was a breeze as long as you have followed the rules

Two days later immigration turned up at my house to check I did live in it and strangely asked my neighbour if I drink much and make a noise Apart from that and 1900bht it was fine

Get in ASAP as they will give you a temporary pass and an appointment to return to see if your application is accepted

Ask if you need to do your 90day check in

Some say yes some say no but it can be an issue Sounds complicated but I got through it so it can't be to hard

Good luck

(my experience others I know may differ)

@Mick *******
what visa did you have? You had to have something to extend.
John **********
Yes you can but in order to do so you must have 400k baht in a Thai bank account in your name for 2 full months before you apply for the extension. You will also need to take your wife along

…and all the marriage related documentation, eg. certified English or Thai translation of the marriage certificate.

were you married in Thailand?

Easy to proceed then with a Kor Ror 2 form (costs 20B) from your amphur to confirm you are still married

@Graham *****
Yes. They asked both the KR2 and the KR3.

This is a common list of requirements but each immigration office has their own requirements.

The time limit is before your stamp expires. But for a marriage extension you must be able to show 40,000 baht in monthly income through a job in Thailand or embassy certified income. Or show 400,000 Thai baht in your Thai bank account that has been there for 2 full months before you apply.

In case I don't meet bank statement requirements, what are my options? Leaving Thailand and applying a new visa again?

@Alexandr ****
Be careful with visa agencies. Some may lock you in by using their own money deposits and it will be hard to continue without them after one year. Just make sure you have the money in your bank account!

If you have no choice but to use an agency this time, ask the IO exactly what evidence they need of your income of 40k a month and make sure you can provide that evidence next year, to avoid the agent's fee

@Tim ********
went to the agency today, they charged me 37k, and told me to go to a different province in the north with my wife🤣🤣

@Alexandr ****
The affordable agents seem to be located in Pattaya only.

Afaik you will still need to prove that the required 400k was in your account for 2 or 3 months after receiving the previous extension. That makes it hard to untie yourself from the agent, unless you have 400k in your bank at the date of the extension.
Tim *********
@Peter *********
I agree that is possible. Depends in the IO and the officer on the day. If the OP is changing the method to monthly and can show they meet that requirement, and have done for the previous 12 months, then I think it is worth a try. Worst case scenario is they again use an agenth

@Alexandr ****
When you are on non-o based on marriage you can get a 60 day extension before you apply for the 1 year extension.

I suggest you make sure you get your 400,000 baht in the bank asap and then request a 60 day extension. That should give you the 60 day seasoning of the money in the bank.

If you don’t have a bank account yet: GET ONE!! Tomorrow!

Do you at least have a tm30?

60days extention doesn't require that long list of documents? I get more questions with more answers lol
Brandon ************
@Alexandr ****
this is the generic list of requirements for the 60 day extension but again each immigration office has their own requirements.
Jyrki *********
@Brandon ***********
and that extension can not get re-entry?
Brandon ************
@Jyrki ********
you can, but why do you need a re-entry for 60 days? Seems like a waste of 1000 baht
Jyrki *********
@Brandon ***********
I Have 90 days Non-o visa single entry. And If I get 60 days extension, IS that also not having re-entry?
Brandon ************
@Jyrki ********
not unless you pay for a re-entry permit
Jyrki *********
@Brandon ***********
I tought when My visa IS single, Then the extension is also.
Brandon ************
@Jyrki ********
extensions are not single entry. They are zero entry. You're already in Thailand. That's why you need a re-entry permit if you want to leave without losing it

@Alexandr ****
I don’t know. I received my 1st one year extension 3 months ago and had money in the bank in time for the request. I never asked for the 60 day extension.

I guess (guess!) that the 60 day extension requires less paperwork but the only 100% positive answer can be obtained at the immigration office.

To be honest… You failed to properly inquire ahead of time. As a result you will need to catch up with great speed. That may require the rest of the week. But we have all spent that much time in preparation, just not in the last minute (or week).

Remain friendly and patient during the process as it can be very frustrating at times. In my case the IO had me return several times because they found something missing in my stack of documents.

E.g. they only accepted photos of my wife and me in and near the house. Images of our holiday two weeks earlier were refused. I ended up making all the required photos.

They require (among others) a picture of you two on the bed. So in the end I added a picture in which we were both jumping on the bed, like children. They appreciated our sense of humor and eased up a bit (but never filed that image). 🤣

My first purchase in Thailand, besides food, was a printer. The first pack of paper has gone already, only on procedural paperwork for Immigration and other governmental organizations, insurance and banks.

When I applied for the visa in Laos they didn't ask me for the bank statements. But they require it for the extention?
Peter ****************
@Alexandr ****
Sorry, but for me it's a bit strange nobody asks you for y'r passport country. (Maybe I'm overlooking ?) If you are NOT from US, Australia, UK or Denmark, you can ask an Income statement from y'r Embassy in BKK.
