Hi All,

I'm hoping for some up to date advice regarding extending my non-O visa for Thai wife. It's due in about a month's time and I use Chaeng Wattana IO.

I heard that extensions can only be done 3 days in advance by appointment. Is this true?

I would also like to know what else may have changed in the last year. This will be my third wife extension.

Thanks in advance for help

TLDR : Answer Summary
The person seeks advice on extending their Non-O visa due to expire in a month, asking if the extension can only be done three days in advance with an appointment at Chaeng Wattana IO. Community responses clarify that while there have been no major changes, it is advisable to apply 30 days before expiration. Some note that the appointment system is currently down, insisting that only walk-ins are accepted, but others share personal experiences of being allowed in earlier than the stated window. Concerns about the type of bank statements required for the process are also discussed.

You're a little behind the times there

😮

They'll turn you away at Chaengwattana if you're not within that 3 days or less window they have on getting new extensions.

It's not like before show up when you have 45 days or less left on your stamp and apply for a new extension. They screen you at the door, you won't even get IN.

Thanks a lot - doesn't give a lot of room for error.

Is there a specific type of bank statement I should ask for? I'm with SCB and have had problems in the past with this. My account is used a LOT. I use the income from abroad and have 2 pensions one paid monthly and the other every 4 weks.

IF you're using monthly transfers you're going to need a print out of the previous 12 months of detail transaction history (and SCB can do that on the spot for you when you go to your branch)

The 'standard' bank letter looks like this. It's valid only for 7 days,

well Kool Breez said he went a month early for the same extension you're getting and had no issues so you're out nothing by trying it

Are you use the 400K baht banked money method or the 40K baht transferred in from overseas each month every month for the previous 12 months before you apply?

Nothing has changed, and they still want you to go at least 30 days before that extension expires, based on the 30 day under consideration. You don't have to, but they appreciate if you do. The only thing, and just like last year, is all new photos, new bank letters, and new copies of your bank book. I have to do it twice this year because of my passport renewal.

wrong. Things change fast during Covid, so your previous experience is not relevant this time. Also under consideration stamps are considered extensions, you don't have to have time remaining for your under consideration period.

. You don't need to do it twice.. just take new passport and passport with extension to IO and they will transfer it for free. I know this because I've done it myself. You don't need statements, photos, etc.
