Hi everyone,

I have a question regarding the one-year extension based on marriage to a Thai national. I entered Thailand 10 days ago on a non-O visa and I’m currently doing the Phuket Sandbox before heading to Bangkok. The stamp on my passport is until 22 November. I deposited 400,000 baht in my Thai account on 31 August, so on 1 November the money will have been there for the required two months.

My question now is: Is there any rule about when exactly I need to go to the immigration office for the extension (in my case that would be between 1 - 22 November) and do I need to make an appointment for that visit. Also, what documents do I need to bring to the immigration office? I think I can guess most of those but I’m a bit paranoid that I might forget something.

Thank you so much for your help with this!

TLDR : Answer Summary

You need to go to the immigration office that serves the area where you LIVE here. SO if you don't live in Phuket you can't use that office to get your year extension based on marriage

You say you're comin' up to bangkok after you get out of the litter box 😮 err sandbox. Is that where you live?

Actually, I live in Bangkok and we just arrived in Bangkok after two great weeks in Phuket. I know some people don’t like that project, but it worked really well for us. I cannot even imagine having to spend 15 days locked up in a room with two small kids.

So, for Bangkok, do I need to visit Chaengwattana for the extension?

yep, you go to Chaengwattana for your extension and you can now go any time once you have 45 days or less left on your current stamp. They will add the new extension to your expiration date.

>: Is there any rule about when exactly I need to go to the immigration office for the extension (in my case that would be between 1 - 22 November)

I believe that immigration office allows a person to apply for a new extension when they have 30 days or less remaining on the existing entry stamp.

> do I need to make an appointment for that visit

Nope, it's walk in only

>. Also, what documents do I need to bring to the immigration office?

the O/P says they are heading to BANGKOK, which leads me to believe they do not live in Phuket but used it only as a way to get IN to thailand.
