TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on how to extend their Non-Immigrant O visa (90 days) to a one-year extension due to marriage to a Thai national. They were instructed to return to immigration on April 2. Comments indicate it's possible to apply for an extension within 30 days before the current visa expiry, though there may be concerns about home visits due to COVID-19 implications.

Most offices let you apply for an extension when you have 30 days or less left on your current 90 day Non-O stamp.
When does your current stamp expire?
Whether they do an in home visit or not, when you apply for a year extension based on marriage they give you the 30 day under consideration stamp and then you go back on that date to get the year extension inked in.

The earliest any immigration office will let you apply for a new extension is 45 days before your current stamp expires so that'd be April 13th ..

then you can apply for a year extension any time after April 28
That's 30 days before your current stamp expires.
Dunno why he'd say come back April 2 :/
