Currently on a non-o M (spouse), on the last stamp that expires dec. 6 and am from the USA - thinking of what to do next. I have only ever done the M entry so single entry is new territory that I am not very familiar with. Can I apply for year extension with the income affidavit from US consulate at immigration before this stamp runs out, or will I need to go an apply for a new non-o single entry out of country and then apply for extension at immigration?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is currently on a Non-O (Marriage) visa set to expire on December 6. They inquire if it's possible to apply for a one-year extension using an income affidavit from the US consulate while still in Thailand, or if they must first obtain a new single entry visa from outside the country before applying for the extension. Comments advise that extensions can be applied for up to 30 days before expiration and clarify that once an extension is granted, there are no entries associated unless re-entry permits are purchased.

And when would I need to get a new visa then? After I would finish the one year extension?

@Tod ********
thanks my man. You’re a great help.

no, you would apply for a new yearly extension next year when you have 30 days or less left on this current extension. That's when you'd show the documentation and proof of funds. You do that year after year,

remember there is NO multi-entry yearly extensions. :O You are already INSIDE thailand so when you get the yearly extension it has NO entries on it.

After you get the extension you BUY a re-entry permit if you're going to leave the country. They cost 1000baht for a single and 3800baht for a multiple.

once you have your extension you only have to do 90 day reporting. You don't show funds or anything else until next year when you apply for your new extension.

Yes I know that Sorry if my wording was off. During the course of the extension of one year during 90 day check inns well I need to continue to prove income or no? Is that just a one time deal when you apply for it?
Robert *******
You can apply 30 days before the last stamp,as you mentioned 6 Dec, apply for the 1 year Extension of Stay at your local Immigration Office.

@Nate ******
It is between 30 days before till the last day of your Admitted to Stay date. Going early has no effect on your Extension as it is added to your current stay.

sorry to jump in on this thread, just curious about you say apply 30 days before... so later than that 29 days before would be too late to go in for the extension?

No, it is OR the money in the bank OR your income affidavit with minimum 40.000 Thb a month from abroad OR tax and sso payments of salary inside Thailand. Not and and and.

On top of the income affidavit, will I need to show any other proof of funds at the immigration office? I have a work permit here as well from an after school english center that I teach at. I have income from USA and thailand.

Additionally, I already know that next year I will need to leave the country a few times so I would need to do the M re-entry permit, if that makes a difference.
