Hello,

I would like to get "Extension of Stay based on being married to a Thai National" and need your advice what next steps should I take?

1. Staying on visa exempt 30 days (until February 9)

1. Financial requirement 400000 Thai baht for 2 months in Thai bank account will be met around mid March.

1. Staying in BKK

First as I understand I need to get NON O based on marriage (maybe 90 days or so, not sure here), which is later can be extended for 1 year. Thus, can I get any visa related to NON O based on marriage in Thailand or do I need to leave country?

Add anything else you might think would be useful.

TLDR : Answer Summary
To obtain an Extension of Stay based on marriage to a Thai citizen, begin by applying for a one-month extension on your visa exempt, especially if you have at least 15 days remaining on your current entry stamp. Once you secure this extension, you can then apply for a 90-day Non-O visa at the Bangkok immigration office. Ensure you meet the financial requirement of having 400,000 Thai Baht in your account for two months before applying for the yearly extension based on marriage later. It’s advisable to gather all necessary documentation and visit the immigration office for detailed guidance.

remember IF you need more time (to get the documentation together etc you can always get a 30 day extension on this current stamp for 1900baht THEN apply for the 90 day Non-O.

Just go get the handout and then work on getting the documentation together

Good Luck (y)

If you don't have 15 days or more left on your current entry stamp you need to apply for a 30 day extension for 1900baht THEN apply for the 90 day Non-O visa right after that.

As

suggested, GO out to the immigration office at Chaengwattana Road and get the hand out from the section that sells 90 day in country Non-Immigrant visas (Section C-1). That will give you the list of documents you need to apply for that visa.

You show up, apply, pay the 2000baht, it will go under consideration for 14 days then you go back out there with your receipt and passport and they ink in the new Non-O visa & a new 90 day entry stamp.

THEN you wait until you have 45 days or less left on that new stamp and go back to apply for the yearly extension based on marriage. This is when the money needs to be in the account in your name only for 2 months before you apply for the extension.

Okay, let's get this sorted.

You are now on a 30 day visa exempt entry, you FIRST need to ask if you have 15 days or more left on your current entry stamp. <- You NEED at least 15 days or more left on your current entry stamp to apply for a 90 day Non-O visa using the bangkok immigration office.

There is no requirement that the 400K baht be seasoned in a bank account ANY time when applying for a 90 day Non-O visa at Chaengwattana. The only requirement is that it be transferred in from overseas.

Edit. First you will need to apply for a one month extension on your visa exempt, this will give you the tome for the money to be in the bank for two months.

Yes. You can gain a non o based on marriage at bkk immigration should you meet the financial requirements AND you have all the other relevant documentation in order.

Take a trip to immigration and get the hand out and start preparing.

It’s a ball ache to do from scratch, but totally doable thanks to all on this page.

No. He would get a non o inside of Thailand should he meet the financial requirements. Then he would apply for an extension of stay👍🏻

No, he'd get an extension of stay based on marriage to a Thai national in Bangkok. Visas are (almost always) brought at consulats outside of Thailand
