I have a DTV visa for another 4 years, I am currently out of Thailand but back in December for 5-6 weeks. My passport expires in July, what options do I have for getting the visa transferred to my new passport?

TLDR : Answer Summary
To transfer your DTV visa to your new passport, it is recommended to obtain a new passport before traveling to Thailand. Upon arrival, carry both your old and new passports. If your DTV visa is pasted in your old passport, visit your local Thai Immigration office to have the visa transferred to your new passport. Bring a printout of the visa if you received it via email. It's advised to also bring copies of relevant pages from your old passport and possibly complete a form at the immigration office.

I recently transferred my non o retirement visa to my new passport. Relatively easy. I obtained the new passport while in Thailand. Then I went to immigration and they transfer not only the visa stamp but also the extension and entry chop etc. There is a form to fill in. Have to copy relevant pages of old passport. Passport picture. Tm 30. (Using new passport number)

Strongly suggest you get a NEW passport before you fly to Thailand.

Otherwise your stamp on arrival into Thailand will be the earlier of your passport expiration date or 180 days, whichever is earlier.

Then you must CARRY BOTH OLD AND NEW PASSPORTS with you during the 5 years of your DTV visa. Showing both upon entries into Thailand.

IF you have a DTV Visa PASTED in your passport, take it with your new passport to your local Thai Immigration office and they will transfer the DTV visa to your new passport.

BUT IF you have the DTV Visa which you RECEIVED BY EMAIL with the DTV visa pdf in it... PRINT OUT the email to Carry with you for the entire 5 years of the DTV Visa validity date. Show both Old AND New passports with the PRINT OUT of the DTV visa to Thai Immigration Officers upon arrival into Thailand.
