TLDR : Answer Summary
When renewing your passport while holding a 1-year stamp in Thailand, you generally need to follow these steps: obtain a certificate from your embassy confirming that the new passport is a replacement for the old one, and make copies of all pages from your old passport as well as the ID page of your new passport. After completing these steps, you can then visit the immigration office to transfer your visa stamp to your new passport. Many users have found this process straightforward, but requirements may vary depending on the specific embassy's procedures.

seeing as you didn't renew your passport yet, how about when you go to renew it you ASK them if they give the letter when you get the new passport back?

That will eliminate the "some do, some don't" conundrum that's running this post around in circles.

If your embassy issues a certification letter for a new passport, bring it for the application for transferring stamps. If not, wouldn't be a problem. (Most countries that don't issue letters put the old passport number into a new passport for linkage.)

I did it last year and it is as they told you.

when you get new passport, the embassy give you a paper confirming this is new passport...

Then you go to Emigration with copy of old passport (all pages) and they transfer 1y extension to new passport.

very straight forward peoces

Good luck

I just did this myself. It's very straightforward. Copy of old passport ID page, and last entry stamp page. Copy of new passport ID page. Fill in the "transfer stamp to new passport" form and hand it into your immigration office, together with your old and new passport. No letter from your embassy is required. Maybe up to 500 baht fee is requested. Just pay it and go.

Problem? The regulations of the Thai Immigration if you like to transfer a 1 year Extension of Stay into a new passport are set by Immigration.

You get from your Embassy a letter that the new passport is a replacement of the old passport with the passport numbers, you copy old passport and ID page new passport and Immigration will than put a new stamp in your new passport.

For Bangkok Immigration:

Then Ask your home country EMBASSY in Bangkok for the letter. IF they STILL issue it, submit it to the Thai Immigration office when you're seeking to transfer stamps from the old passport to new passport.

Polish Embassy also. But they issue a letter informing Thai immigration about this. When I was departing Thailand with my new passport, the officers at the land border crossing requested it when transferring stamps. When changing passport number at the bank, they also wanted to see it. So even that letter is useful.
