What are the cheapest options available for obtaining a DTV visa in Thailand?

What's the cheapest softpower option for getting a DTV visa right now? I asked at one Muay Thai school and they quoted 40,000 baht 😂 which is absurd. Maybe all courses are so expensive because of this visa? A year ago, a friend paid 15,000 baht for a one year Muay Thai course, and now it's almost three times that.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The question revolves around finding cheap options for obtaining a DTV visa, with the user expressing shock at the recent hike in course prices for Muay Thai, citing a previous friend's cost of 15,000 baht compared to the current 40,000 baht. The conversation reveals mixed opinions about the prices, with some claiming that the rates are fair considering the duration and benefits, while others suggest searching for cheaper alternatives and discuss various schools with different pricing structures. The necessity of a significant bank balance to qualify for the visa and the potential consequences of seeking the cheapest option were also points of discussion.

Got a lovely local visa group on samui that can assist

They donate part of their visa fees to our local surf lifesaving club that teaches local kids to swim

They can process it all for a lot cheaper than you mentioned

Happy to pass on their details and your support would be greatly appreciated to support the local kids

The fool is probably you, since you’re applying for a Soft Power but clearly have zero interest in it. Even 10 years of Muay Thai classes for 5k would still be too expensive if you’re here only for the visa and nothing else. Trust me, people who genuinely care about Muay Thai don’t mind paying 40k for six months. You’re just trying to game the system to qualify and you’re not the only one which is exactly why prices are increasing. So don’t complain about it. Get informed on the prices for other visas and you may quickly reconsider it.

I am not a fool. If you can get it for half that is $600 for a full year of Muai Thai and a visa? During covid just one year of Muai Thai and a one year visa was around 70K. You have to consider all the classes and hours the teachers put in. I don't think you truly understand what you are talking about. Have you ever been to Thailand or take. Muai Thai classes? I lived in Phuket for 4 years, so I have some experience with the prices of the gyms even just for classes. If it's too good 5o be true, it might be a scam.

That is just basically how economics work.

When demand gets high, prices rise.

A lot of people want to buy to get the possibility to abuse a visa.

They are not really interested in Muay Thai, but look for the cheapest training and even ignore the fact that when the training stops their reason to visit Thailand also does not match the visa anymore.

At a certain moment, sooner or later Immigration will handle this, just like ED visa and visa exempt.

Till that moment Muay Thai schools try to profit as much as they can, just like you try to profit as much as you can from the visa.

The point is that the cheapest isn't always a good choice, gyms have indeed raise their prices for the simple reason that too many people wanted DTV when they stop the border run thing. You also have too think that a single gym cannot sign up

ppl cuz it would raise too many suspects as all those people won't fit in there. Embassies have also become more strict with gyms requirements, so those few that are fully qualified they cut off cheap Charlies by raising their prices.

It’s absurd? Guess why gyms are raising their prices. A bunch of people, most of whom don’t even care about taking part in the classes are just looking for the "cheapest soft power” option and expect a 5-year visa to cost nothing and require no effort or involvement. That’s the reason why. According to your post and replies, you don’t seem very tied to Muay Thai classes either. You can thank the guys who came before you with the same idea. So get another visa and apply for a "cheap" (non-DTV) Muay Thai if that's the main issue 😏.
