My passport is running out of empty pages and I've ordered a new one. What's the process for updating to the new passport on the dtv? I saw a post you can transfer the visa over but it's a digital not physical visa sticker.

TLDR : Answer Summary
When updating to a new passport in Thailand, it's important to understand that you cannot transfer a digital (eVisa) to a new passport; instead, you must show both the old and new passports during travel. Upon exiting Thailand, present both passports to receive an exit stamp on the new one, while noting that the entry stamp is on the old passport. For re-entry into Thailand, you will need a copy of the data page of the old passport containing the visa information, the last entry stamp, and your new passport along with a printed copy of the eVisa. It's essential to carry both passports during your stay.
One final time you cannot transfer a VISA sticker or eVisa PDF to a new passport, you can get EXTENSIONS OF STAYS transferred at the immigration office ONLY.
IF you have a sticker DTV visa in your passport you ARE obligated to carry BOTH passports to stamp in and out for the duration of the visa (that would be for the next 5 years ๐ฎ ).
Where as IF you have an eVisa PDF print out AND you got your new passport inside thailand you do exactly as I said.
You EXIT showing BOTH passports (because your entry stamp is in the old one), you cannot go thru the eDeparture gates if you got a new passport inside the country either you got to the officers and get hard stamped out. They will stamp you out on the new passport and note that you entered on the old passport
THEN
to get back in to the country all you need is copy of the data page of your passport, the last entry stamp from it (the one that goes WITH the new exit stamp in the new passport) the print out of the DTV visa and your new passport.
you have to leave at some point you cannot transfer a DTV in country so when you stamp out you do it with your old passport and re enter with the new one not that tough

sorry I didnโt know you were a long time resident in Thailand itโs obvious that you know how things work over here good luck and can you explain to me again on how you get a DTV stamp in your new passport
you CANNOT transfer a visa sticker to a new passport ๐
You have an eVisa from a consulate where you printed the PDF which IS your visa
You show BOTH passports when you stamp OUT of the country, they will stamp you out on the new passport and make a note that you entered thailand on the old one
THEN
when you go to get back in you need a copy of the data page of the passport that the eVisa was issued under and the last entry stamp in that passport on the DTV, those copies plus the new passport and print out of the PDF visa is all you need to get in and out from them on
you show BOTH passports to get out the FIRST time after you renewed your passport because you entry stamp is in the old one and they will stamp you out in the new one
THEN
you just need copies of
- data page of old passport (the one you got the DTV with)
-last entry stamp in the old passport (the one that matches the exit stamp you got in the new passport)
you need to bring BOTH passports when you exit thailand if you got a new passport inside the country
That's because your entry stamp is in the old one and they will stamp the exit stamp in the new one (it's the one time you need BOTH passports if you have an eVisa)
Then you just need copies of the data page of the old passport and the DTV print out, with the new passport and you're fine after that
when was the last time anyone got an exit stamp at BKK though? Not since last July did I go to a desk on the way out. It's all digitally recorded.
I'm not suggesting this affects the need to carry valid documents, only that exit stamps are almost entirely a thing of the past.

Gerry Whelan you can't go thru the eDeparture gates if you've got a new passport inside the country you have to go to the officer to stamp you out manually in the new passport
