Hi, is there any way of getting the DTV visa without having 500k thb in the bankaccount? Any agency to recommend that can fix this somehow?
Summary so far
The discussion revolves around the requirement of having 500,000 THB in a bank account to qualify for the Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) in Thailand. The consensus is that this amount is mandatory to prevent individuals from becoming a financial burden on the Thai government. Many comments emphasize the importance of having this funds and express skepticism about agencies that might offer ways to circumvent this requirement. Suggestions include consulting reputable visa centers but there are warnings against illegal methods and the risks associated with not meeting the official criteria.

What would the possible interest lost on 500k baht for 3 months ? Pennies. In Thailand where the interest rate is 0.6% it would be 637 baht after tax! 😂

If the money was abroad still pennies 😂

If you cannot show 500k thb in your bank account the thai immigration will wonder how you can support yourself especially if something unplanned happens. I guess its on you to explain this so they are happy enough to grant you a dtv

I never have 15k usd in a bank account either. I own a telecom 😅. 200k in credit cards supports me 555. People think oh you must be rich ….the owner of a business is also on the hook for the entire debt of the company’s infrastructure build outs. I’m broke till 2350Ad. Yes that’s a year.

I know, but I wonder it there are ways around the requirement. Lets say I sell stocks for 500k thb today.. can we speed up the process somehow. So I dont need to wait 6 months after that
John **********

FirstLemming Depends where you apply. Some consulates require you hold the money for 3 months, some want 3 months of statements with only the final one showing the money, etc.

Answer is NO. Because the DTV is still a tourist visa.

While there are a number of agents that will assist with applications I'm not aware of any that will "lend" money to someone who, by the nature of a DTV application, must be out of the country when they need that money

maybe a possibility, couldn't the agent get a Thai bank account opened for the foreigner and deposit the 500,000 THB in it, borrowed for the length of three months? Agents use to keep the bankbook and the debit card, so actually there is no risk in it for them

Nongnuch Kamdee actuallyl the risk is... even if I don't have the debit card or bank book. As long as I know what bank it is I can report my card as lost and get a new one

precisely. It’s one thing for an agent to lend the funds for a retirement visa as those funds are in a Thai bank. Funds for DTV have to be in your home country account - who is gonna send money to a random foreigner who can just skip town and disappear? Ridiculous idea.

HandsomeRaccoon5162 couple agents want to have a word and say your wrong are they bot lending the 800,000 for pension extension? Yea they are.

For DTV as well couple of close friends that did the dtv that way

Dror Rahamim I'd like to hear the full story from them. As already mentioned, you're tourist needing the money outside Thailand to apply, can you post the list of agents that will do that

Nongnuch Kamdee you talking samantics they may as well did what you said with the thai bank but regardless they did it without any issues or having the money

Nongnuch Kamdee they arent dirty poor but they certainly dont have the 500k hence they were looking for something like that

You dont have to believe look around a bit ask agents and youll see

Nongnuch Kamdee figure of speech i guess "told me" is showed me case closed

Dror Rahamim I don't believe a single worth your "couple of close friends" told you. No Thailand based agent lends money to foreigners for a DTV application that has to be done abroad with proof of money in a foreign account. Maybe they proved the money with three months statements in a Thai bank account that was opened by the agent in their names, which is the only way you could get the ball rolling

There’s a reason you need that money in an account. It’s so you aren’t a burden on the Thai government if you have an emergency.

the DTV does not mean you can stay in Thailand for 5 years. It was never designed to be used as a long term resident visa. Its purpose is to be used for 180days and then you leave.

Elías Molina I am not saying it is not good to have emergency reserves, however, the question "how would you pay rent and buy food without having even 500K" doesn’t really "fly" in Thailand... On one hand, you can cope quite well with much less than 500K sitting on your bank account. On the other hand, when you dont have a monthly income, the 500K spread out for 5 years is 100K per year, less than 9K per month. What kind of a guarantee is that?
Elías ********
Elías ********
Bent Sennenwaldt so that's my point. How would you pay rent and buy food without having even 500K in your name?
Steve ********

Elías Molina forget about both because after the visa has been issued nobody cares anymore if the money is still on the account as long as no extension at the immigration is made.

If you can’t raise 500k you probably shouldn’t be thinking of moving to Thailand. It’s hardly a fortune.

Nick Green the rules are set, meet them or don't get the visa.
HandsomeR**********
HandsomeR**********
Nick Green eh? What does that have to do with the issue? Even if he does, what’s he making on that? A tenner a week ?

The point is moot. The DTV is a tourist visa and the funds have to be in an account in his or her home country. No agent is going to send money to a tourist’s account in the UK or Oz or wherever. Why on Earth would they take the risk.

Andi ***********
Dror Rahamim 75k for 5 years is cheaper than the Thai Privilege visa so some view it as a good deal. 75K v 10K Thb the regular DTV price is not so good.
