Hello! Does anyone have a link for an insurance plan to fit with the e-visa application (applying in the US ... requirements below.) Also, does anybody know approximately how long it takes for approval for a 60-day Single Entry Tourist Visa application? I'm starting to feel like I should simply enter with a 30-day visa upon arrival and hope to find a way to extend. Any thoughts? Thank you!!!

Required: Health Insurance issued by Thai insurer with outpatient benefit of not less than 40,000 THB and inpatient benefit of not less than 400,000 THB. The insurance must also cover all medical expenditures including COVID-19 at least USD 100,000 and must cover the whole period of stay in Thailand.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses the insurance requirements for the e-visa application for a 60-day Single Entry Tourist Visa to Thailand, particularly highlighting that insurance is mandatory for the Special Tourist Visa (STV) but not for the Single Entry Tourist Visa (TR). Commenters note that the TR visa can be extended once for an additional 30 days at immigration. The approval time for the e-visa application is suggested to be around 30 days, and there are considerations regarding the current visa on arrival policies. Additionally, travel insurance is generally recommended despite not being mandatory.

No insurance requested on STV 60 day visa application . Insurance not mandatory now only recommended

Can you enter Thailand after July 01? Thailand is back to normal with the 30 day visa on arrival. You can extend it for another 30 days (twice) at a payment of 1900 baht each time. After the 90 day period you have to leave and re-enter if you want to continue your stay in Thailand. Medical insurance has been dropped but it's always recommended to take travel insurance. Hope you find this helpful.

i only speak from my experience. i did it a few years ago. Entered in Aug with a 30 days stamp in my pp. got an extn for Sep n Oct. then did a Loas run n applied for the 60 days which gave me to extend in BKK for another 30 days

visa exempt, not visa on arrival

i meant the 3o days if one is from illegible countries.

@Winston *******
yes it's called visa exempt. Visa on arrival is only 15 days

offer solutions. don't be picky

I'm not being picky. If you use the wrong word you can really screw someone up because they are VERY different things and available to different people. Someone might think they can stay longer than they thought or that they can extend their stay when they actually can't because someone used the wrong word.

When it comes to immigration there are many things that the word means completely different things with different answers.

They told me at the US consulate L.A. yesterday leave 30 days to get the evisa approved. I tried to apply within 8 days and didn't make it. They ended asking me for other documents. I used 50k usd coverage from a plan I have from Luma. They might not ask for that after the 1st of next month though.

It's easy to extend for another 30 days at immigration

Would it just be a 15 day extension (half of the original entry)?

As Brandon said they may ask for proof of departure by the 30th day even though they know you can extend

Good to know. I will plan accordingly.

nope it's 30 days added to the 30 days exempt.

but then you have to worry about showing onward travel within 30 days and spending a day getting to immigration, applying for extension, and then getting home. Plus they might want 61-90 days.

I rarely think visa exempt is the best option unless the trip is 2-3 weeks.

do you think can arrive on a 60 days tourist visa then change to a 1 year non-immigration O visa ?
Brandon ************
@Jingle ****
Not in that order. If you arrive on a TR and want to switch to Non-O (Marriage or Retirement) then you need to apply for and switch to the non-O VISA before you get the extension. So you will receive the 90 day Non-O visa first, and then you can use that to get the 1 year extension.

You'll need to meet all the requirements to apply. Better suited to a separate post if you don't already know the requirements.

@Jingle ****
probably, I am on a 5 year visa never done non O

@Brandon ***********
I agree but they did ask if it was possible to extend

Are you sure you applied for Single entry tourist visa (TR) and not Special Tourist Visa (STV)? These insurance requirements are for the STV. TR does not have any insurance requirements.

Our stv in uk took 4 days but we had previously travelled on thai pass which they ask as may speed it up

I made the same mistake.

A Non-O visa took about about a week. I think they say it can take up to 2 weeks for approval.
