Hello People

I would love to ask a few questions for my friend. He is from the US and attempting to apply for the tourist visa.

1. should he get the ticket and ASQ before filing the online form?

1. after finish filing the online form does he has to wait or can he file all the needed documents to the Royal Thai Embassy in LA immediately?

1. can any doctor sign the Fit to Fly certificate?

1. anybody the get the visa, how long did it actually take to get it ? (if planning to file the visa around next week and book a ticket for Dec 23 will it be too risky?)

1. can you suggest any medical insurance for the visa?

Thank you in advance

TLDR : Answer Summary
A US citizen applying for a tourist visa to Thailand should prepare all necessary documents before filing the online application. It's advisable to check with the Thai embassy for the specific list of requirements and procedures as they can vary by location. The application can be submitted immediately after completing the online form; there's no need to wait. The Fit to Fly certificate can be signed by any doctor, but it's important to confirm this with the doctor's office beforehand. Processing times for visas can vary, typically ranging from one to three weeks, so planning ahead of time is essential. For medical insurance, the Thai Insurance Association offers options for COVID insurance that can be obtained online.

Embassies and consulates that are issuing visas are giving a listed advice on procedures.

Simply get in touch with the appropriate Thai embassy.

Each embassy had its own procedures.

It does not matter what various people write on this chat forum. Most do not know the correct answer. Just a general idea.

Embassies are of no doubt different from country to country.

The only correct answer of procedures is that of the embassy in the area or country you are applying in.

2) no need to wait. He could send paper to Thai embassy after filled online form.

3) yes, make sure that he calls and asks Doctor first and make an appointment.

4) some takes 1 week, some takes 2 weeks. 20+ days should be okay.

First job, the embassy website in his country for a list of requirements.

This should also tell you the order in which they are required.

If you DO book anything first - make sure it's fully refundable or changeable in case any issues come up.
