TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses the confusion around insurance requirements for obtaining a 60-day tourist visa in Thailand and the associated Thailand Pass. It clarifies that the current requirement for the Thailand Pass is a minimum of $20,000 in medical insurance coverage for COVID-19, while the tourist visa itself does not mandate insurance coverage. Several users recommend different travel insurance providers such as AXA and Allianz, sharing their personal experiences and suggesting that applicants should ensure their chosen insurance policies meet the specific needs for entry into Thailand.

Visa doesn’t require insurance test n go does for Thai pass. US$20,000 minimum covid medical expenses coverage currently.
Dimitris ************
No insurance covers asymptomatic. In plain English: they test you positive upon arrival and they take you with ambulance anywhere they want for 10 days. And you pay out of pocket up to 20,000 bucks. I warned you

No! My travel insurance from USA states, HOSPITEL if ordered by authorities or medical- it pays 100% of HospiTEL costs up to policy limits.

My policy was purchased thru AAA In USA.

Try Sainsbury’s travel insurance google them

You only need $20,000 cover. AXA is the most preferred.

Get proper insurance from a western company not some rubbish Thai low amount cover.

You need £10m of medical cover for travel, not $50k or $20k. That wouldn't keep you alive 24 hours in ICU.

I have a good insurance in Thailand I'm not a novice iv lived in Thailand on an off for the last 15 years it's a basic insurance to satisfy the visa
Jared **********
@Andy *********
all he wants is insurance to satisfy Thailands requirements for entry
Peter **********
Be careful which insurance you get I applied for the axa insurance with $
*****
coverage for covid as required then but was told it did not cover any existing conditions so basicly it only covers covid
Robert **********
@Peter *********
look at most insurance you buy here as throwaway, to meet requirements, not pay claims
David ***********
Nonsense. That means it covers all the diseases and conditions that you don’t already have … which is normal for insurance policies.
Peter **********
@Daffyd **********
why nonsense if you are suffering from a condition there will be a greater need to be covered for it
David ***********
@Peter *********
It’s puzzling why you separate just that one non-pre-existing condition (covid) out from all the thousands of other risks, and claim that it only covers that one.
David ***********
@Peter *********
now you are making a different statement.

Before, you said, “basically it only covers covid.” That is not not true. It covers covid plus all the other diseases that you did not then have when you took out the insurance policy.

Now you are saying that insurance should cover known issues. Insurance is principally designed to cover possible expenses - not certainties.

If an insurance company was going to cover existing conditions, then it would have to charge a significantly higher premium.

They accepted mine for 50k for the visa

I have looked everywhere, what's the general rate for the AXA 20,000 USD insurance? I am sure there are a lot of variables, but cannot seem to find any numbers.

Go online, if available, and apply for 60 day, single entry, tourist visa. No insurance requirements, I am aware of. Second process, is applying for Thailand Pass, will need insurance, that states for COVID, for full 60 days @ $20,000. Just got approved today. Using my standard travel insurance, and letter from insurance company.

Thailand Pass and Visas are 2 different things. Thai Pass only requires $20,000, specifically states COVID. I just got mine approved using Allianz Travel Insurance. Standard Tourist Visa no insurance requirements. I've done 60 days a couple of times.
Aaron *******
I've done 60 day tourist visas, no $100,000 insurance requirements. Only, insurance visa requirements I'm aware of is a Retirement Visa, applied for outside of Thailand.
