Hello everyone, i'm applying for the STV visa. Do you have any feedback on what thaï insurance to take ? How did you deal with getting that insurance + covid insurance ?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user is applying for the STV visa and seeks recommendations for Thai insurance, especially regarding COVID coverage. Responses suggest caution with choosing the STV due to its inflexible nature compared to other visa options like the Tourist visa (TR). Several users recommend using AXA insurance for ease and accessibility. There are concerns about the difficulties some have faced in extending the STV, highlighting potential issues regarding visa flexibility.
yeah... There been some people in the groups have a hard time getting it extended and at least one that could not. It is also so inflexible in terms.

Thanks for your answers. I checked already the list on thaï embassy website. I'm choosing STV so I can extend to 9 month, which is not the case with TR or exemption. At the moment, i know they extend for not being able to travel due to Covid but it's really not sure they will keep on giving that extension.

I’m using the word visa because that’s what most people think extensions are. Please don’t call me out for it 🙂
yep that’s an issue. Some have tried Airbnb but they want tax ID of the accommodation and many of those don’t have it. It’s just a really crappy visa option for most. A TR or visa exempt offers way more options for extending. In the short term you only have the option for 30 days, but if you want longer term you have options of a Ed visa, a volunteer visa or if they’re still selling them a “Covid” visa. All of these are available to you off these visa types. They’re not off an STV.
when are you thinking of coming here? After July there is no extension of the STV available. It might seem like an option at the moment but do you realise you have to have fully paid up (pre-paid) accommodation for the entire time you are here, and medical insurance. The accommodation might work if you have a condo contract or something but if you’re staying in hotels do you really want to pay upfront for 90 days - and beyond if you’re applying for the extensions.

The STV is not the best option for many people. Go with a Tourist visa (TR) or if eligible a visa exempt. You can extend those and or switch to another extension of stay relatively easily. You can’t for the STV.
