TLDR : Answer Summary
To apply for a marriage visa in Thailand, one must typically show proof of monthly income. The commonly required amount is 40,000 THB per month. Alternatively, if one does not have Thai bank statements, a notarized letter from their consulate can serve as proof of income. For older applicants seeking a retirement visa, the requirement is often higher, around 65,000 THB per month. It's also noted that having bank statements is advantageous, particularly when under scrutiny by immigration authorities.

that is incorrect :/ there is no rule that states you need to put ANY money in a thai bank account IF you use the income affidavit from your consulate.
You either bank 400K for 2 months before your application in a thai account in your name only
OR
You get the notary letter from your consulate stating you get at least 40K baht a month in income.
, then honestly the best 'fit' for a visa for you would be to go to a thai consulate and get a 90 day single entry Non-O visa based on marriage. That would stamp you in for 90 days and you could extend that by 60 more days at the immigration office for 1900baht too.
Seeing as you're only here 100days a year, it doesn't make sense to get a year long visa that you'll use only once. Just get a 90 day single entry visa from a thai consulate in a nearby country like Vientiane, Savannakhet, Ho Chi Minh City or Seoul.
The consulates I mentioned do NOT require proof of funds to issue that visa.
the person is only here 100 days a YEAR. He'd get one maybe two entries out of a year long visa and then not be back again in time to get any more out of it.
, The three consulates in the area that will issue a year-long multi-entry Non-O based on marriage without proof of funds are Hi Chi Minh City, Savannakhet & Seoul. Penang will issue year-long multi-entry with proof of funds. (Ho Chi Minh & Seoul want a letter from your wife to them asking they issue the visa).
I didn't think given the O/P's needs (only being here 100 days a year) that the year-long, multi-entry Non-O would work out, and he should just get a 90 day single entry one.

asked. How about stating where you are now and if you're in thailand what type of visa you're on. There are a few choices but we need those answers to give you accurate advice

Okay let's get this straightened out
IF you are using income as the means to hit the financial requirements to get a yearly extension of stay INSIDE the country at the immigration office you get a notarized letter from your consulate here in thailand stating you get at least 40K baht a month in income from abroad,
OR
You provide your work contract here, your work permit, your pay stubs and your tax invoices showing you make at least 40K baht a month inside the country.
Those are the ONLY two ways to meet the financial requirements by using the income method

I have 8 months statements showing at least 3k pounds per month but a low balance because I send my money to another account does it matter

I had to show bank statements now when I just applied for Non-O, plus affidavit from my embassy stating how much I earn, what I am doing to earn the money etc. Not to mention the ton of other paperwork. That said, I am South African and they are giving us a lot of shit lately for some reason... The lady told us that they don't mind the balance, just need to see that the money is coming in every month. I would say, take it with and if they ask for it you can give it.

To give you the correct answer where are you now and do you have a visa of any type now?

What you have in a U.K. Bank has no bearing on a Thai marriage visa application, you can travel to Thailand on a O visa based on marriage obtained from Thai embassy in London, which will last for 3 months, after 2 months in Thailand you can apply for a marriage visa , it is then that you need to show proof of funds .

Paul go to your embassy and ask for affidavit for proof of income 40,000 take that to immigration most don't even ask for statements if you have this. The ones you have a fine.
