Hello,

Question about Marriage Visa Renewal.

Before, they asked to have 400,000 baht in the account for at least 2 months prior to the visa application.

One accountant told me that from February 1st, they are asking to have 400,000 baht in the account for 1 year.

Is that true?

Thank you

TLDR : Answer Summary
The financial requirement for renewing a Marriage Visa in Thailand remains consistent; you must maintain 400,000 baht in your personal Thai bank account for at least 2 months prior to the visa application. Contrary to claims of a new requirement of 1 year, credible sources confirm that the rule has not changed.

In the last 20 years the financial requirement for the Extension of Stay based on being married with a Thai National did not change, it was is and will be as Tod described, at least 2 months prior application date 400.000 Thb on a Thai bank account in your name.

Best option is to contact your closest Immigration Office and ask them for their rules, as they are the ones stamping your passport.

That one accountant is WRONG..

The seasoning for a new yearly extension of stay based on marriage to a thai is the 400K baht needs to be in a thai bank account in your name only for 2 months before you apply for the extension. That's the rules as they're written in the Police Order that controls the extensions of stays
